According to the statistics I got from here:
http://www.morganquitno.com/cit06pop.htm#500,000+
Two of the top 10 SAFEST cities (over 500,000 people) to live in are actually on the border with Mexico (El Paso & San Diego). 2 more (San Antonio & Austin) are less than 4 hours from the border with Mexico.
Contrast that with the most dangerous places to live and you find that the most dangerous place to live is actually on the CANADIAN border (Detroit).
I have a real hard time buying the case that these workers negatively impact the crime rate when I see numbers like this.

The statement that "Their presence makes them criminals" still doesn't seem to translate into any numbers. I don't seem to understand your point(s). If just their presence makes them ciminal, then the crime rates in San Diego & El Paso should be even HIGHER. But they're not.

No, it just sounds like a good argument for the prejudiced and ignorant. But in support of this idea being true, the murder rate increased 10 fold after the white man stepped foot on this land!!! But I don't think that is the kind of supporting evidence they want to hear!Oh Well....

You are trying to put the figures in your favor, obviously you either have illegal friends or family that's illegal, one in every four convicts now in california prisons is an illegal,in every border town in the US side has more than double and sometimes triple in crime rate,Detroit like Washington DC has always had trouble with crime, but the cities you compare them with like San Diego were not even mention as crime cities before now,Every citizen in border states has to pay a higher premium for insurance because of high rate of stolen vehicles from illegals,High profile and wealthy mexican nationals are moving to the US because they don't feel safe in mexico, and these are are their own race.

To be in the USA illegally is a crime. The folks that come and go across the border as visitors from Mexico, live in Mexico and visit the US daily or on a pass. They have no reason to cause crime in the USA, as they live in their own country. They are on their best behavior.
The illegals who may come across and gain entry at those cities, run like the wind, to get away from the border where it is less likely they will be caught. They migrate up into the USA and have their criminal effect by theft, gangbanging, forged docs, illgal work/job behavior and many incidents of DUI leading to deaths and property damage. If you don't believe that illegal immigration is causing huge amount of harm in our country, ask yourself (or call your insurance agent and ask them) why vehicle and property insurance premiums have gone up 25% in EACH of the last two years. That's a 50% increase and it is due largely in part to uninsured driver related accidents and hit (and run) damage to personal property.
In addition, in Calif. over 40% of the prison population, inducted for major felonies (like armed robbery, murder, rape, kidnapping) are ILLEGAL aliens. Then there's the children of many Mexican families who were given Amnesty in 86' who are legal Americans who are now teen gangbangers who due to poverty (as well as other factors), are committing crimes against Americans and filling our prisons.
Detroit is filled with a large, very poor and desperate population of Afro Americans. If you want to imagine how the USA will be after several more years of illegal immigration, Detroit and it's crime problems (your quote) will be a good model for what illegal immigration will soon cause this country to become.

" Investors Business Daily reported in March 2005:
"The U.S. Justice Department estimated that 270,000 illegal immigrants served jail time nationally in 2003. Of those, 108,000 were in California. Some estimates show illegals now make up half of California's prison population, creating a massive criminal subculture that strains state budgets and creates a nightmare for local police forces."
Citing an Urban Institute study, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies Steven Camorata noted in 2004: "Roughly 17 percent of the prison population at the federal level are illegal aliens. That's a huge number since illegal aliens only account for about 3 percent of the total population." "

Since the term 'Safest' isn't defined in the list, it could just as well mean that due to increased crime rates, those cities have increased their law enforcement ranks, thereby making those cities safe.
Also be aware that illegals don't jump the border and then stop. They spread out all over this country. Illegal immigration is an issue in Vermont too.

We are saturated with illegals in Arizona. I hear it on the news every night at least 95% of crimes that are news worthy are commit ed by someone names Hernandez or Juarez or something to that effect. I had a neighbor that I thought was a wonderful man he and his wife worth both Mexican/American. At a party one night he got to drinking and commented that if the Mexicans ever decided to fight to get Arizona back he would have to fight along side of them. I think alot of illegals feel that way.
On a foot note I thought the place with the highest number of Iraqi citizens (dearborn Michigan) was #1 on the list of most dangerous places to live.

They are committing a crime just by being here. Though I did learn an interesting statistic recently. 47% of illegal aliens entered this country legally. They had a visa to come here. When it expired, they just didn't go home. Somehow that seems different from thinking that all illegals are border runners.

I don't know where YOU are getting YOUR numbers, but they are way off. Check out Southern California and you will see that 77% of the crimes are being committed by illegals....and a high number of those are committed against children. Evidently it's OK to sexually abuse children in third world countries...but HERE it is considered taboo....a serious crime.....so where do you leave YOUR children to play alone? I hope not in a place where there are a high number of southern illegals.....
