Have you seen those Dodge Sprinters? They are really tall, I would think you wouldn't have a problem fitting a harp in one of those. You can also find conversions that are designed for equipment hauling.

That depends on the value of the harp, and subsequently how much security/safety precaustions you wish to take in transporting it. Also, how far do you want to send it? You could tie it to the roof of any sedan or station wagon, you could secure it in the back of a utility, soft or hard top, and put the lid over it, you could put it in a box or safe filled with bubble wrap and courier it by truck, you could carry it by hand to your destination, you could fly it by airmail, you could put it in a shipping container and transport by train or cargo ship, and it doesn't have to be a 8 x 2 x 2 metre size container - there are smaller ones available. You could put it in the back of a high roof panel van or take it with you on the public transportation services like bus, train or tram, you could throw it, catapault it, trebuchet it, sling it or rocket it.
to answer your question directly: van - use a high roof panel van; car - use a ute or station wagon.
