I say this because of Katrina, and because of this article on Yahoo! News: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060618/ap_on_fe_st/deer_attack . The woman did nothing to the deer necessarily.

Does anyone else have any accounts of this occuring elsewhere?
Do you agree? If not, why don't you agree?

Please, no preaching on this. Please please please. No: "This was in Revelations" or "The Bible Code spoke of this happening" or "Animals are soulless therefore evil" stuff, PLEASE!!!

And this has to do with Religion and Spirituality because I'm Pagan, and Mother Nature is a huge part of our religious beliefs.

Wellllll...I suppose if you believe that Mother Nature can be a living thing with a soul (I think this is a pagan belief, yes? Sorry if it's not) Then you could make an argument that she is pretty pissed off. (Living in Boston, I feel like I've just been punished by SOMEONE with a month and half of rain and no spring at all.) Americans do use an incredible amount of energy and fuel, and we do waste an incredible amount of stuff. Everything comes in disposable something, and many people don't even recycle when they have the opportunity. If I was Mother Nature, I'd probably be mad.

To take a scientific view of things, we are experiencing more hurricanes and stronger hurricanes because of global warming. The air over the Atlantic is getting warmer, and warm air feeds hurricanes and tropical storms. An increase in violent incidents between people and wild animals also could be because people in the US are using more and more space, pushing further and further into woods where animals live, and the animals have no where to go, so they live near and clash with humans.

Certainly, if you believe that Mother Nature can get mad, you could use it as an explanation for a lot of recent natural disasters, not just in the US but in other parts of the world (tsunamis, earthquakes, AIDS pandemic). I think that you do have to look at other parts of the world, too, though: China, with 1/4 of the world's population, is rapidly industrializing and soon will far outpace the US in energy consumption and trash. India is right on it's heels. Certainly Mother Nature would have angry eyes turned towards them, as well?

It also could be a bad couple of years, (in terms of storms and earthquakes) that will settle down, or it could be doom that we cause for ourselves because we don't try to stop rapid global warming. As an athiest, this view is more in tune with my beliefs. I do see where you're coming from, though. It does seem like things are going downhill.

I don't know how well I answered your question, I just tried to think it out in writing. It's an interesting one, though, thanks for asking!

First I must say that USA isn't the only one mistreating her and is not the only one suffering large natural disasters. Katrina came only 1 year after the terrible Tsunami that was so devastating in Asia and the Earth Quake in India.

What I don't think people realize is that the Earth is alive and evolves on it's own. Continental Divide, Great Floods, Fires, etc. - All part of Earth's own growth process. It is even possible that global warming is all part of her own path also.

Perhaps it is more like when Forrests get over run and there is not enough nutrients for everyone in it, Earth has a fire (like cooking down a sauce) and starts again. Anyone who has been to the grand canyon can see that it used to be full of water - the face of this planet changes all the time.

I don't know how much damage we are doing to her (I sure try to be as kind as I can) but we do need to take care to be as gentle with the Earth as we can and to stay out of her way when Mother Nature is doing her work.

I am so glad you brought this up, cuz it's important.Mother nature is most definativly mad at the human population. We have gone way to far.We are sucking out every ounce of oil in her, and no doubt that is damaging her health, we have clogged and poisoned and toxicated and dirtied her rivers and oceans and seas that are 75% of her (just like we ourselfs are 75% water)we have muddied the ground with blood and rotting bodies and replaced the soil with chemicals and poisons. We cut down the amazing cathedrals of forests and yanked out the magical field of grass and wildflowers.I could go on for a whole book on what we ave done to our earth, but you get the idea.I am amazed the earth has not self- destructed and torn herself apart in an enourmous earthquake or something. But that is because she is all our mothers, no matter what religion you are.She has been tolerant of her horrid little chidren, but we went way over the line and she had to do something to show us she was not the least bit happey with us, so she sent hurricanes that we more than deserved. But I think the reason she will dot ever killl us is because she loves us and also we are more than capable of destroying ourselfs. In fact that is what we are doing right now.

Mother Nature is above singling out any particular countries, or even the emotion of anger. She simply Is. Katrina was a huge hurricane, but not the first, and not the biggest. The flooding here in New Orleans resulted from poorly constructed levees - Man's fault, the Army Corps of Engineers, to be specific.

I don't think the situation of Katrina is a case of Mother Nature getting mad. If you look back during the history of the Earth you will see that natural disasters have been occuring since the beginning of time, before humans were even around. Whether they are happening more frequently is something that needs further research, though, to see the impact that we are having.

As far as the article on the deer, I'm pretty sure that this deer was simply confused and panicked at finding itself in the small confines of a house, and in unfamiliar territory, and acted instinctively to protect itself and that it wasn't a purposeful attack on this poor woman.

As far as Mother Nature being angry, I believe that all souls control nature through the function of our collective consciousness.

Obviously, this is not something that we do in a conscious way, but I feel that every thought, belief, word and action we take are sent out as vibrations into the universe and interact with the thoughts, beliefs, words and actions of everything else in the universe.

Thoughts of negativity or positivity, beliefs which are loving or fear-based, words that are loving or hateful, actions which are selfless or selfish come together to form a collective consciousness affecting both our individual experiences as well as the world around us in the form of weather patterns and natural events.

Is our collective consciousness largely positive and love-based or negative or fear-based? Perhaps we can look to weather patterns and natural events as a barometer of humanity's spiritual well-being.

"Mother Nature" did not cause Katrina or Rita or any other tropical storms/ hurricanes.

Global warming did.

Global warming is the reason why hurricane season last year was so bad. It is also the reason why this year's hurricane season is expected to be WORSE than last year's.

Not good news for someone living in South Texas.

Who causes global warming? We did. We, as a human population, did.

Not just the US. The whole world has exceeded Her carrying capacity for our species. A few are going to have to die off. A dog can only handle so many fleas before she's going to have to shake off a few or risk being bled dry. And honestly, people are the same to Her, she doesn't differentiate. The best thing to do is lay low(or in this case, maybe high would be better), that's all She really wants from us anyway.

Since mother earth gives life from herself, the poison's, and negative electromagnetic interferences affect the earth's axis. Elf towers,Haarp, chemtrails, affects us all including the animals. Wild animals are loosing their habitate due to wild fires, cutting down trees as man encoaching into their habitate.

Umm, no. We have just began the upside of the hurricane cycle. The same thing occurred in the 1940's.
