It's your choice. You don't have to be mean. Maybe you feel lousy when you get up, but you don't have to take it out on anyone else. If you don't like being mean when you wake up, just decide you're not going to be and then work on it.

Long ago I babysat for a couple who actually had a rule that everyone in the house had to be pleasant in the morning, including the adults. I think it's a pretty cool idea to make everyone responsible for their own actions... wonder if that could work on a government level...

You may be sleeping for too little or too long. Sleeping in a bad position, or the mattress sucks. Maybe your just a serious caffeine addict and you don't feel right until you get your coffee. :)

There are a lot of good ideas here, for instance sleeping for a different amount of time, get a new pillow, try a fan in your room or a/c or maybe turn it off. You may need a whole new mattress. I'm now realizing that my fiancee and i should have gotten the one that was a little more expensive, it makes a world of difference.

Good luck.

You could be waking up in a bad part of your sleep cycle. I have a friend who knows that, if she gets eight hours of sleep, then she gets pulled out of REM sleep and is always cranky, so she plans on getting either seven or nine hours. You could try changing the amount of sleep you get a night and see if that helps.

Nope, it's me too, when I wake up I'm in such a bad mood!! I think I just have to adjust a little to the morning sunshine. But it's normal, so don't worry about it.

It suggests you are not sleeping well, is all. Try a different bed, or a different pillow. or try going to bed sober, or without eating that huge cheese sandwich you usually have before tucking yourself in!
