I have a MySQL db on a server. I use MySQL Admin PHP (not quite the right name but close) to do simple queries but I am not proficient with the SQL language and certainly cant get the type of reports I would like to generate. Idealy I would like a app that would index my db, understand the field names, and present a simple query box something like MS Access or other client based db software does. Thanks.

You can try out Ubiq (http://ubiq.co). It is a web based reporting tool for MySQL. You can easily create charts & reports using drag & drop, export them as PDF/Image or csv.
