It's OK to refill them ... but your real challenge is cleaning them.
When you drink out of the bottle, your mouth touches the bottle - not to mention backwash. The bottle is getting dirty and full of bacteria - inside & out. There are not many effective manners of washing that bottle and getting it truly CLEAN. (Wash, Rinse, then Sanatize) ;-)
Is it going to kill you if you use the same bottle all day today - probably not. Sucking on the same bottle all week though - might not be a great idea! It may not kill you, but it's not healthy for you.
But if you are going to keep using the same bottle for any length of time, be sure you're not sick. If you've got a cold or bug of some sort you may be giving that bug back to yourself everytime you get thirsty!
Cheers!

It doesn't seem too much trouble to dump the undrunk water out every day, and then swish a tiny bit of liquid soap and warm water in it before you rinse, dump again, and refill with fresh.
Let a clear glass of water sit around for a month and watch what happens. You'll be curious no more. Do you want that gunk, even in DILUTED form going into your tummy?

If you always refill it, bacteria and germs can build up in your water bottle, making it a breeding ground for bugs that could make you sick. However, if you wash it first, it should keep this from happening.

If it is specifically a water bottle, you can use it many times as long as you sterilize it. If it's a pop bottle or something along those line, you are not supposed to use it more than like 11 times even if you do sterilize it every time.

There is bacteria that can form. It is best to sterilize the bottle in a dishwasher..or wash it in the sink after use.

no! not without washing it and THOROUGHLY drying it first....
they did an episode on my local news channel. They tested the bacteria content of people's water bottles. It was disgusting!!!
They said to put them in the dishwasher if you can....that kills all the germs ( don't run the DRY cycle, they will melt )...just wash...

They say no, but I keep my water bottles at work for 6 months at a time and I've never gotten ill.

The bottle will start to get funky, even if you wash it regularly.
Once it doesn't look right anymore, pitch it. By that point, it
might start 'growing' stuff anyway.

You should clean it at least once everyday cause all those germs and bacteria will build up in there.

Should be no problem as long as you wash it out between uses.
