What is the worst airline you've ever used? For me it's US Airways...they stranded us in Charlotte and refused to pay for a hotel room for the night, even though we missed our connection due to the fact the plane had to divert to another airport because someone miscalculated and didn't get enough fuel in DC. They also "lost" our reservation on the way back from that trip and we had to spend over an hour arguing with the people at the check in counter to get on the plane.

Basically the most American Airlines are worst. From the Service to Check in/out, you fell like you go through Fast Food Checkout.
I prefer our European Airlines, the Service is excellent and professionally and you can fell like a person not like a number

When you talk about American owned airlines, the lesser of the evils would be Northwest for a major full service and Southwest for a budget airlines. However there isn't an American owned airlines left that has good service or food. The bottom of the pack for U.S. would be a tie between United & American. I refuse to use either one ever again. Would wide, as a rule Asian owned are the best. Cathay Pacific leading the pack. Malaysia Airlines is good, however the customer service people & ticket agents need more training and I've never been on one that left on time (flown with them 6 or 7 times) European owned ones are in the middle, as a rule better than American but far worse than Asian.

I worked for an airline for years, and trust me, Ive heard it all. If the reason for any delay is directly resulted to the airlines fault or something that could be prevented, such as a mechanical delay, crew rest or any reason other than an act of God such as weather, then you are entitled to compensation. Take a moment to read the contract of carriage to see what you are entitled to.

Always carry a copy of your printed itinerary. This has your PNR or Record Locator (reservation number) and your ticket number. That way its easy to pull up instead of name searching if the reservation happens to fall out of the system. It's not common, but sometimes there is a booking error and the wrong dates or city codes can be entered, names can be misspelled etc. Plus with the recent merger with America West, Ive heard there have been some system problems at first.

First, send a letter to the airline and then send one to the DOT. They watch the airlines like hawks and compile statistics for the number of complaints each quarter to give the airlines their ratings. Ive posted both links below. I hope this helps you with any problems you have run into.

While things to come up such as strikes and hurricanes and bankrupcy's the best way to resolve things is with patience. While you are entitled to be angry, it only fuels the fire. Trust me, the agent on the other side is trying to defuse as many fires as possible and getting angry only makes it worse. You wouldnt want to be in their shoes either. It was the few passengers that remained calm and understood it wasnt personally my fault and were patient that I would go above and beyond with compensations from free upgrades to travel vouchers to whatever I could do within my power to make the situation right. It gave me more time to look at other options and come up with a good solution for everyone involved. Bottom line is that I was treated with respect and not belittled. If you spend several thousand dollars on a trip, invest in travel insurance. One way or another, you can not avoid unions. The Pilots all have a union, most flight attendants and in some companies the ground crew and baggage handlers have unions. Travel insurance works on a reimbursment based system and covers a lot of these things.

American Airlines was always the worst for me! The best to me are Air Jamaica and Song Airlines (operated by Delta).

America West or "American Worst". I had bad service and the door on our plane needed repair before we left - it would've fallen off during our flight otherwise! In the end, I have not flown with them since.

United - I can't even stand to see their commercials!

How can you be "the worlds biggest airline" and be in bankruptcy for like the last bazillion years!
