Does anyone know how to compress a dvd to make it small enough to be able to fit on a cd? I would have to make it be at the most 700 MB...Does anyone know of any programs that will do this? Something that will only take maybe 1 hr or 1 hr and a half or even less that would be fine with me...I dont want some slow program...I want a reliable program something that I can count on...Then I will burn them after I get done compressing the movies>...

Single layer DVDs hold 4.7 Gigs, while dual layer DVDs hold 8.5 Gigs. You would need to rip the DVD with a DVD ripping program, cut the file down enough so that it's small enough to fit on a CD, then burn the newly sized file. Compression can only do so much; if you did compress the data, you would be left with something about 1/5 the quality of sound and video for the CD.

This is not my area of expertise by any means, but I would recommend against it; the quality would be so bad it would be wasted time. I'm not familiar with any DVD rippers either, but I know they're out there. You would still have to use a specialized program to run the DVD as well because of CSS encryption.
