Definately not.

While I'm not one to promote dropping out of school, many, many good people have succeeded very well without completing their education. There are many good people who would be wonderful advocates for the people who dropped out of school and spent years and years running their own business. These people are certainly bright enough and experienced enough to contribute to the democratic process, are they not?

Remember that a diploma is ONLY a piece of paper. It's a piece of paper that says you completed school--which is a good thing--but says nothing further about your qualifications. Frankly, these days anybody who wants to can complete school. It says nothing about what classes you took, how well you did, or what you actually know. It's just a piece of paper.

Democracy suffers if anybody is locked out.

Definitely not. Some of our greatest inventors and public figures never made it even remotely close to any kind of graduation. Some people are just born with certain abilities. I believe that people should be chosen, for there ability and knowledge( not necessarily book knowledge) of the job. There is nothing in any book that can give you more knowledge , than hands on experience.
