I have a rott that does the same thing. I even bought a new foot ball... lasted one throw.
I ended up using two different things. For short throws I heavy knotted rope. For long throws a Kong.
The Kong was the only commercial toy I found that could hold up to his jaws.

I have 2 pit bulls so I know exactly what you are going through. My dogs love to bring me wood. I throw pieces that are about 2/3 inches thick. They also like to use a thick rope. I also use a soccer ball that has a small hole in it. They can then grab the ball and bring it back. Sometimes they run after it and kick it as they are running...

A Jolly Ball!!! Link: http://www.sitstay.com/cgi-bin/sdisp.cgi/TYJP1.lg.jpg They do get damaged, but it takes awhile. They use them for horses as well. The horse ones deflate a bit when bitten so they don't puncture as quickly. I'm sure the dog ones do the same. The folks on my pit bull forum love them, since their dogs are hard on them as well. Bully breeds also love coconuts, just an idea.

bull dogs...are like my pitbulls.
get a old bicycle tire or small tire from a riding lawn mower....roll that out and watch them play. they will not need you around to throw it once they learn how to toss it. BUT!!! make sure the center hole in the tire is much larger than their head....lol

How about nylon chew toys? These are supposedly very hard to destroy.
