I'm 15 years old and I have to decide what I want to be when I'm older by next month so my guidance counslers can place me in classes appropriate to that job. I always wanted to be a lawyer, but now I'm realizing that I'm probably too shy. I'm really good are creative writing and stuff so I thought perhaps a journalist, but my mom said they don't make enough money, and are sent to war zones and die. And now I'm really interrested in CSI. I watch it constantly so I thought maybe that would be an ideal job, but my mom said everyone wants to do that now because they watched the show, too. What do you think?

15 is too young to try to stick you in a specific job track, but with that being said it is not to young to try to fit courses around your interest.
If you plan on persuing a career the would require college (which it looks like you do), you need to take higher level (i.e. advance classes) in as many subjects as possible.
If you think college may not be for you, you may need to reevaluate your career chioces.
Either way, if your counsleor is demanding you to come up with a job, try to pick something more general...and pick a job in which the related subject matter interests you.
Maybe tell your counselor, you are thinking about a career in criminal justice (that leaves lawyer, forensic scientist, etc all open).

If you really want to be a lawyer and you have the mental capacity for it you should try to become one. You don't have to be a trial lawyer. You could work for a corporation or real estate or estate planning.
If you are leaning toward forensics just because lots of people are going into the field doesn't mean there isn't room for well trained quality people.
You are still young. Can't you tell the counselors what interests you and then take general classes?

Take solid general classes like history, writing, sciences, math, and literature. Also, take a foreign language. You're still young and have plenty of time to figure it out. When I was in college, the average freshman changed majors 7 times. Most didn't have a clue when they were 15 what they wanted to be. I wouldn't put this burden on youself.

Hope you work things out. Blessings.

It's hard to decide what you're going to be when you're older-especially at 15.
My mom enrolled me in debate class and I learned what is called forensic speaking-it taught me critical thinking skills, how to gather reliable information, how to debate any topic, how to research/find facts, and especially to speak in front of others. It was freshman year in high school-but there were lots of sophomores in the class. Take speech and or debate classes.......you will acquire skills you will use for a lifetime in any profession!

I think that you are too young to know what you want to do when you become an adult. You might think you know but I can almost guarantee you that it will change in a few years maybe sooner.

Do what you want to do and don't pay any attention to what your mom says on this subject.
