She just chews them and leaves pieces of card board all over. Had a box full of books. She chewed it all around the books, just the bottom of the box and the books are left in on epiece.

It helps her clean her teeth.
Do you give her soft cat food, or the crunchy cereal-like cat food?
Cats need rough stuff to clean their teeth.

Of course, she may just enjoy destroying boxes...

Cats just loves cardboard. Mine chews and picks at nothing but. I can buy her a Fancy cat bed, she will sleep in a Pepsi cube. Just be happy she is chewing on a box not a couch. Her favorite toy is free. You just have to vacuum a little more often

Well your cat could be doing this for one of four reasons #1 It could be teething. #2 It could be doing this to clean it's teeth. #3 It may think this is a fun game/toy. Or #4 It could be it is taking the pieces of the boxes to make a nest of sorts. Either for sleeping with, or for birthing on. I would say that unless it is chewing it into pieces small enough for it to choke on, don't worry it can't harm you cat.

If your cat is young, she might still be teething. Give her a few hard treats each day ex. Pounce. It's also good for tarter control. Have chew toys for her and other toys that she likes. All cats do this and you could lose some nice things. I'm sure she'll outgrow it. All my cats have done this.

i wish i could tell you.. my cat does the same thing, although now it has gotten worse because she chews on cards, pictures and anything with a glossy feel. (she even chews on plastic bags from the grocery store!)
I have had to get rid of all pictures that are not in frames because she will chew them all up!
I think they like the way it feels on their tongue. My vet said its kinda like how dogs like to chew bones; they just want something to chew on!

lol! cats love to chew things. get some bitter end and put it on the boxes it is a spray that you can get at your pet store, they don't like the taste of it so they won't chew on it. so to save any more boxes you can give that a try.

Is she a kitten? Mine outgrew the chewing once they were full grown. Perhaps it is the teething? My new little one is constantly finding things to chew and I have to keep taking bits of paper, etc. away from him so he won't choke.

My cats love to do this too. I was told that it helps to clean the teeth. I think it is a game to them to see how many little pieces they can make that can't be picked up by a vacuum. They love to watch me clean up the mess.
