I don't know about parking lots for bars, but I did work at a 7-11 once. We had a lock on the door. The only time we had to lock the door was when we had a major storm that knocked out the power. Since no one had ever locked the door, it took us an hour and forty-five minutes to find the key. By the time we found it the power was back on!

For bars, you need somewhere to park your car when you get there for when you call for a designated driver they will know where to find your car because you'll be to drunk to remember. For 7-11, when there's only one employee working on those late night shifts, and you need to go to the bathroom, the procedure is to lock the door for security reasons for the few minutes that the store would be unattended.

I would think the bars have parking lots so that the people who work at the bar have a place to park. As far as the locks go, it's a standard feature that comes with most commercial buildings at no extra charge. Would you refuse to have an extra amenity if it was free?

I dont know about the parking spots at bars. For your other question, it has doors incase of an emergency like fire, or robbery or bad weather or anything, then they need to close it. And it would be a bad idea to have no doors at all even if it was open all day.

well.. bout the parking lots in bars -- I got to believe that it's for the designated drivers. Or for those who consume non alcoholic drinks.
For 7-11 outlets, well..
most probably it's in case of emergency.
haha.

bars have parkinglots so that drunk people can still leave the bar but have a place to pass out drunk.
7-11's have locks in case a burglary I guess...or the person has to leave the store unattended

driving isnt illegal until you reach your limit (which is 1 for many people, but still) and not everyone drinks at the bar... convenience stores do close for inventory...
3---Why do we drive on parkways and park in driveways?
4---If colors are the actually the spectrum of light that isn't absorbed but actually reflected- why do we say it's that color?
5---If murder is illegal, why is there an age limit? (abortion)
