She might be experiencing the early sign of Alzheimer's. When elderly people start getting Alzheimer's they can change alot of things and some of them can get very mean. You have to realize that she is going through a big change in her life. She may not be able to do things she normally could do by her self without some extra help and she may just be taking her frustration out on anyone. Just be understanding and do not let it get you to down. This is a normal reaction in elderly people. Just try to help her do this but let her do as much as possible this will help her feel more in control. If you are having a hard time walk out of the room for a few then come back and try again.
If she just treats you bad because of your chooses in life then you will just have to prove to her overtime that you can make good chooses in your life. My grandmother and I did not speak from the time I was 18 until I was 25. She did not like that I had dropped out of school and had a a child when I was 18. She now realizes I have a good job and take great care of my children. Just keep trying to keep in contact but maybe not as much as usual. And prove to her that no matter what she feels you have done wrong in your life that you do make good chooses and you will always care about about her no matter what.
I hope this had helped. Things will straiten out.

Older people are so set in their ways. They were raised completely different than kids today. Just think about all the changes in the world today compared to when she was a kid. There are so many things now that I bet she doesn't understand, mostly technology but other stuff too. She's probably confused by all the changes and can't keep up. Older people get lonely sometimes and miss their friends (many have died). Just try to love her for who she is, be patient with her and let her talk about her life. They like that.

Some people are just that way. She may be jealous of you or your parents and takes it out on you with out really realizing she is doing it. Have a discussion with her about your feelings and tell her if she keeps treating you that way you can't come around any longer. Its your life and you deserve to be happy.

Every time she does something that you think is mean. Ask her don't you love me? Because I LOVE U. Just keep it up she will get the idea.

well if you would stop peeing on her cat and rearranging her furniture and throwing her going away parties when she gets sick, and hiding her medication, and leaving her milk out to spoil and leaving wood working tools in her bed, maybe she wouldnt be so mean!
