The cat's fur will adjust to the temperature as needed -- meaning it will shed more in the summer to cool off, and will have a thicker coat in the winter for warmth. However, if the car is a strictly indoor cat, their coat will not change much as the indoor temperature is regulated throughout the year.

Do not cut cat's hair.

If it's an indoor cat, it really helps with keeping the shedding down to a minimum, which is better for you. The cat doesn't really care whether his hair is long or short. However, be prepared for him to act a little strange for a day or two after you bring him home with his new hairdo. He may hide for awhile, not because he's "embarrassed", but because he will feel exposed and a little chilly without his fur. But it will be okay. A Persian with a "lion cut" is cute (hairy feet, tip of tail and mane around the face).

Although the lion cut can be greatly entertaining for the owner, it isn't necessary for the animal. Unless of course you have an animal that has rolled in something that will not come out. Or if you have neglected to groom your long hair for an extensive period of time.

My cat actually looked rather happy with a lion cut. It was a direct result of him eating an entire bag on mini marshmallows while I was at work, then rolling in the inevitable vomit. It cost me a fortune in vet bills and carpet cleaners, but in retrospect I find it hard to not see the humor.

Do not cut the cats hair. Their fur helps maintain there body heat, up and down. Cutting the fur will mess that up. Had a cat that almost died from overheating because of a shorter summer haircut

NO, No, No, No and NO. We got our long haired cat a Lion Cut last June. We thought it would be cute, he'd be more comfy, we'd be minus a few tons of hair. Our cat hated it. He did not like being 'naked' (1" long hair), he hid, he seemed to lose his manly cat strutt and he did not act 'right' until all of his hair grew back out. His tail was kept in the down between his legs position for nearly five months. We wil never, ever, ever, cut his hair again.

Don't cut their hair, instead, brush them A LOT. They will shed all the hair they don't need, and this can cause serious tangles and matting, which will overheat them even more. Get a big flat wire brush, they're all over pet stores. Brush kitty every day, going with the flow of the hair. Be careful around ears and face. Kitty will love you for it and feel a lot cooler!

Ive never done that to any of my cats and they all seem to be fine in the summer time. Besides, this cat got a short cut for summer, does he look happy?

No you shouldn't because the cat will get seriously angry. Even it is very hot, don't cut the hair of your cat.

cats usually shed their fur when its gets hot. no need to give it a haircut but you might want to brush it more often if your cat has got really long hair.
