It is very sad and hard to lose a sacred place like a home where you have so many special memories. It is really important to keep in mind that that your memories won't go away with your house. No one and nothing can take your memories from you. Hold them dearly in your heart and I am sorry for your loss.

This may sound trite, but after living for more than 40 years, I think it's true--Home is where your heart is. You'll find that the most precious memories are those you take with you in your mind and soul, not the "things" you have around you. It will be tough, but learn to appreciate what you had and move on to the next part of your life.

I've moved many times. It's sad - you feel like you're losing your memories, but you're not. They're stored in your head. Nothing is ever the same as it was even three years ago. Just remember it as it was, and whatever you do, don't go back to the house - it will upset you.

Well, it's not really your house - does not belong to you.
Think about other things and persons you have positive memories attached to. Be aware of the last days you'd be in the house - and nobody can take your memories!

Your memories are stored in your mind, not in a physical structure. It's not healthy to be so strongly connected to material things. You'll keep your memories long after you're living in a new home. It'll be okay.

Keep those memories in your heart and remember the good moments of the past. Then prepare for the future.

Go through and take pictures of your favorite spaces. When you get them printed, write on the back your memories, and put them in a photo album. If there is a memento you can take, do so.
