I colored my hair last night and apparently bought the wrong color. I naturally have brown hair (betweeen light and dark). I used to color my hair a lighter color. Months ago I went back to brown and the color I got then I was very pleased with. I forgot the exact color I had bought. When I bought the color this time it made my hair tooooo dark. What color can I use to lighten it up a little.

I heard you can use L'oreal Casting color over top of recently colored hair but I wouldn't know what color to use.

Will not go to salon. Had a very bad experience will having my hair colored at salon.

trying to lighten too dark color at home is a bad idea as you could end up with orange hair and you could really damage your hair, causing it to break off. my suggestion would be to go to a salon or beauty supply place and purchase a small bottle of Paul Mitchell Shampoo 3. it'll strip some of the color out over time. permanant color always fades after about a week worth of shampooing anyway. even if you did go to a salon, the only thing they can do is put bleach in your hair, which is really bad for it. if you insist on trying a lighter shade at home, wait at least 48 hours and do a deep conditioning treatment beforehand, to strengthen your hair before you put more chemicals on it.

I would think this would make a worse experinece for you than whatever you experienced at that salon once upon a time. Now that your hair is messed up - go to a salon - a different one. Get some advice from friends that have nicelooking hairdues on where to find a nice and good hairdresser.

I think that if you continue trying to redye your hair to figure out what color you used last time, you'll end up with greenish looking hair. Im sorry to say

Good luck tho

My best suggestion would be to buy a shampoo for blondes, it will lighten as you wash, but just so you don't damage it I would just wait it out about 2 weeks if it hasn't gotten lighter consider putting low key highlights.
