I think the red and black background is very powerful, and I like the way you've worked from dark to light, adding lots of highlights to the figure in the foreground.
The painting has a lot of mood about it; it is sinister, raging, even apocalyptic.
I can't get a good view of the facial features, but from what I can see it looks a bit cartoony. Nothing wrong with that, but the background seems very realistic in style. Still, that reminds me of (post?)modern cartoon style, which does attempt to blend realism with the unreal.
As for composition, the figure is pretty central, kind of like a portrait. I wonder if you could have framed the figure differently. Try laying sheets of card over the top of the painting to crop it into different shapes and see what the effects are. It all depends what effect you wanted; I get the impression from the subject matter that you were trying to create a scene or scenario, but the composition, as I said, feels more like a static portrait.
Overall I think you are very talented with a paintbrush. What type of paint is it? Acrylic?

My first impression is that's it's a still from a cartoon.
That, if I were in the know, this androgenous character would mean something to me. But it doesn't.
It's also a little flat, I think more thought should be given to the character's position in space and the relationship to the light.
There's a competency about the work which speaks to me of an attempt to please a very specific audience, maybe even a single person.
For me: there's no passion, no shared secret, no insight.
But there could be.

Like most of us, you have so much of creativity, and while you can ask for advice from anyone, being a writer I have learnt with time that the best criticism comes from the editors who take your work to public eyes, there on public will start putting opinion, here if you demand criticism those who have little sense will also criticise it for no good reason.

My opinion...good work...with a dark shade overwriting the character's emotions. Sunset is very cliche. Nothing cathches attention, looks more like "Prince Of Persia" kind of environment. But...GOOD WORK!

But the most prominant think that DOES attract attention is : YOUR TALENT. Want to see your next work :)

From what I can see, it looks nice although I would like to see a little more exploration of composition. The use of color is nice and I like the overall style.

You would best be served by posting it in your yahoo photo album so it could be viewed larger. Go to photos.yahoo.com/yahoo id

Wow, that's really nice. The white eyes are a little creepy, but I'm assuming those were intended.

I wish I could paint like that. I wish I could paint, period!

I think it is great.
I love the colours and background effect.
Makes it all very moody.
The woman looks intriguing, as I wasn't sure if she was upset, angry, sulking, old, ugly or what.
Art is all about interpretation though....isn't it ?
Thumbs up on the paintbrush skills.

From a fellow painter...very nice - although I mostly do landscapes...I can't get the hang of painting actual people for some reason.

It's great, absolutely wonderful. You are a very great painter. Do you do this just for fun, or have you actually thought about selling your paintings?
