Well if there is one you support, than I guess it is ok. I would worry more about what money is needed for the four kids, churches tend to do very well.

There is nothing wrong with giving the Church an offering or, if you prefer, a tithe, however;
When a preacher asks about or preaches about tithing, ask him to prove the necessity of it using only the New testament.
Some preachers want to claim the Law id dead and then use the Law to build the foundation for their sermon on tithing.
As far as the little old lady and the windows mite, it says she gave all she had. Could it be that after she paid her obligations it was all she had left??
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is NOT FOR SALE.
Your salvation IS NOT FOR SALE.
May God bless.

Stop tithing.
Tithing is a Mosaic law. The only ones who are mandated by God to collect tithe are the children of Levi (Levitical priests). And those of who are mandated to give are those from the 11 tribes of Israel (Hebrews 7:5-6).
Now, how can you be sure that your priest/pastor came from the levitical clan and you are from the one from 11 tribes?
Tithing is now obsolete. As written in the Book of Hebrews 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. Hebrews 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
Don't believe that when you do not give you are stealing from God. You will only sin if it is God's commandment in Christian era, but it is not.
I suggest for you to read Hebrews chapters 7&8 before tithing..

Well i believe that anything Church or charity related can count toward your tithe, i can't afford mine i have to many bills and debts.
What's more important though is a love offering than a tithe. If you can you should give ten percent, your firstfruits, but just sharing the wealth is what's more important.

The tithe was an admonition to the Isrealites to not forget the poor and destitute among them. Neglecting the tithe was referred to as "robbing God." As the New Testament points out, the Christian has nothing which does not belong to God, and the concept of the tithe was superceeded by the concept that "with the measure you deal out [ with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others ], it will be measured back to you."
The Christian gives as God guides him, not according to a tithe or portion of what he owns. If you give to another church, you give to God. If you give directly to others, you give to God. If you give to worthy charities, you give to God. And this comes with a promise: the more generous you are to others, the more God will bless you. It's one of only two commandments with a built-in promise, the other being that honoring your father and mother will bring long life.

I don't think that would be a problem. Giving Tithe to any church is a good thing. I don't think God would care which church. But, I think that the tithe is actually to support the workers of the church you go to, for up keep and such. I myself don't go to church, but I believe in God. I don't give tithe (a 10th of my income to a church) because I don't belong to one.

You asked...and the tithing is to help those in 'your' immediate community and if 'one' is secure in the knowledge that a near-by 'church' is doing the work set out in the Holy Bible then 'one' should be a member as all will be partaker of the 'fruits' by-and by......

Have you thought about mailing your tithes to your church? We have lots of older members who can't make it to service so they mail their tithes. Talk to you pastor, deacon or lay minister. Yes you can give your tithes to another church. Tithing is an act of worship in itself. Have you given thought that maybe you need to change churches to one that is closer to your home? Within walking distance?
God isn't interested in just your money, but your time and talent as well. You have gifts that need to be used in the body of Jesus Christ. If you not in fellowship, prayerfully consider moving your membership to a closer church.
God Bless

I'm pretty sure that if you're struggling to find money for transportation, God will forgive you for not forking over 10% of what you make.
No offense intended, but putting food on the table, clothes on your kids' backs, and a roof over your head is more important than tithing is.

you can give your tithe to the Church near by if you attend the service there, it does not have to be all the time, if you have at least attended some service, then its ok. if you dont go to the Church at all you can't give them your tithes

yes I think you can. I would ask your pastor and see if there is another way you could mail or send your tithe to your church or would it be OK to send to another church of the same religion.
