Part of the therapy for getting over a divorce is to re-join the "human race". With a divorce, we go through "separation anxiety" ... and that is a very miserable condition.
Don't feel that you have to leap at the first opportunity to date ... but don't shy away from one that interests you. Ease back into it, maybe by starting out going out with a group of friends, then a couple friends, then venturing out on your own.
There is no generally-accepted timeframe for waiting. Let your own heart and needs determine that. Just be cautious about "rebounding" and jumping into a worse relationship than the one you just left ... just because "it's there" and you're hurting.

I want to know the same thing. I have been told between 12 months and 18 months but I disagree. Maybe its up to us and how we feel. I have always gone right back into dating after break-ups. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it don't. I don't regret either way it has turned out because it makes me happy to be with a woman. Dating and getting really involved is different though I think. You dont want a rebound effect that will screw up down the line.

Depending on how long you were married and what the actual cause (the break down point) in your relationship was, I would wait at least 6 months....I would give myself at least half the year to clear my head and just try to get used to the idea of dating. Try it out and if it doesn't feel right give it a little more time...there is no right or wrong answer. Everyone is different.

That's entirely up to the individual. Most start "dating" before the divorce.

Why wait till after divorce? Most people I know start even before the separation!
