I asked a similar question before but didn't get a good answer on how it is supposed to work. Or whether it will work. I'm really trying to be open-minded about this.

Here's an eye opener:
Senate Bill-- the rights illegals will get:
Current Bill:

1. grants amnesty to the MILLIONS of illegals already here!
2.grants amnesty to illegals FAMILYS,who live OUTSIDE the country
3.admits HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of unskilled "guest workers",through a new "guest worker" program, with a direct path to permanent resident and citizenship!
4.admits 1.5 MILLION
agricultural "guest workers" with a direct path to citizenship!
5.increases the number of employment based, immigrants admitted to the U.S. each year,by 400%!!
6.gives the Dept.of Homeland Insecurity, the discretion to waive fines for employers who knowingly hire illegals!!
7.allows states to give ILLEGALS,in-state tuition benefits that they can DENY to citizens who live in other states!
8.requires consultation with the MEXICAN government, before we begin construction of a fence along OUR border!
9.creates new student visa programs, with direct path to citizenship!
10.allows ILLEGALS to claim Social Security benefits, for work performed ILLEGALLY!!!!
11. Adds a 10 year 'statute of limitations' to give amnesty to illegals coming in in the future if they provide documentation saying they were here for 10 years at any future point. (This to people who have been using false documents all along.)
12. Each of the guest workers in each of the 1.5 million person PER YEAR and 200,000 unskilled person PER YEAR program would, upon obtaining residency or citizenship be able to bring their families as well. This includes indigent parents at a time when we already don't know how we will fund old age requirements for the baby boomers.

it wont work !!!!!!

I wonder how many nurses, teachers, or high-tech workers would work for $8 an hour. Wait, you didn't know that Bush's "guest worker" plan would be open to those people too?
That's what they have in mind. And, there would be no wage-related restrictions on it other than the minimum wage. So, employers could offer a teaching job for $8 an hour. American teachers would either take that rate or, more likely, they wouldn't. So, the employer could hire that "guest" worker from Bangladesh. The Bangladeshi would consider that a king's ransom. All the requirements of Bush's plan had been met: there wasn't an American willing to do the job.
Bush's plan would force millions of previously higher-wage jobs down near the minimum wage. What phrase would most Americans use to describe such a plan?

What exactly does he mean by "families"? Will their immediate family come with them or not? If not, are we going to be able to split up families? Not all people coming here would be Mexicans or from the parts of Mexico near the border. Is Bush going to require men to travel hundreds of miles to see their immediate family?
If, however, they're bringing their immediate family with them, there will no doubt be hundreds of thousands of children born, and those children will be U.S. citizens. Who's going to be able to make them go home after they've had a U.S. citizen child? And, won't most "guest" workers intentionally have children here so it will be harder to make them go home?
And, given that, doesn't this plan consist not just of an amnesty, but as a massive incentive for a huge chunk of Mexico's population to come here? Was any thought put into the consequences of this plan at all?
No, no guestworker program should take the place of following the law! This still allows the law-breaking illegals to go to the head of the line and disrupts the ability of legal immigrants to get their chance! Until such time as all able-bodied welfare recipients are put to work, all homeless people, all college and high school students have the chance to work, we don't need to import anyone to take our jobs! Stop pandering, stop giving handouts and stop lying to the American people!
Every so often the real agenda slips through

how can an American be expected to do a job that has had the wage undercut by cheap illegal labor from Mexico? How will legalizing this cheap labor change that situation? Of course, it will not. In fact, it will only encourage more border crossing, which will result in more Mexican citizens and others living in the United States and having children who are U.S. citizens, and who are thus harder to deport when their “temporary” guest worker visas expire. Given the fraud, incompetence, and bureaucratic lethargy that mark most government programs, how can the public have any faith that such a plan would work even remotely as advertised?

We should study the results of the 86 amnesty, certain measures(like increased border security) were not enforced to the level that was described. There was initial enforcement, however border security did not adapt to growing demands from one year to the next.

I'm still researching specific pos/neg effects the 86 amnesty had on illegals who received amnesty.

One things for sure, since the 86 amnesty, the number of illegals crossing the border has increased every year.

that's an quite reliable question and properly positioned. there are countless those who do no longer paintings because their fathers did not paintings. The handouts were a a lot, it’s no longer their not straight forward earned money given to criminals and the lazy. Now obama has made his “dream” *** real. (that's his moist dream). we've the worst criminal there has ever been in the oval workplace and that i remind you he swore on some thing that replaced into no longer the bible. Obamaites will comprehend very quickly that each and each you'll’t stay off of handouts and at the same time as the scales tip and the operating human beings can’t proceed to exist with the further load of the beggars, riots will ensue and there'll be civil conflict. finally no human being will win.

The Senate Bill needs to be scrapped and we need to start over without adding in-state tuition for illegal aliens, family visas for illegal aliens not here, and screening only but essentially unlimited immigration of poor immigrants who with their also invited families would have to be subsidized by our education and health systems, as well as a 10 year rolling 'amnesty' for future illegal aliens that the bill contains.

If we dismantle the magnet that pulls illegals here (employment and benefits for illegals) and get real border security, I would rather have a legalization program that first allows only those resident (legally or not) to apply. That is because I don't think that as a society we will be able to stand years worth of media coverage of Eagle Scouts and honor students being deported with their families, and I think they will end up staying in large part anyhow. That being the case I would rather use our enforcement to stop illegal immigration going forward and to catch the 'nasties' already here.

However, I would not be in favor of letting those who came illegally also bring in family not here under 'family reunification' programs. There are already too many and the schools and health care in border states is failing. Family would need to come in through existing quotas.

Also, beyond legalizing screened illegals here, I would not be ok with raising the immigration limit until we know how effective our border security and enforcement is. Even then we need to limit it to the number we can provide for after first properly educating and providing health care for our own people, and those already here. Either that, or employers need to build old fashioned 'company towns' and pay for schooling and health care for their new 'guest worker' employees.

It will not help the average American. In fact it hurts many Americans...................Mostly those who give illegal immigrants a job!!! They will no longer be able to pay unlivable, under the table wages to millions of workers!!! This will lead to two results, the illegals who will be legals will get paid more and be able to build a semi-decent life for themselves, and second, more illegals will enter America, replacing the newly minted legals and will take their new higher paying jobs away, leaving all unskilled immigrants worse off.

Good news is Americans will always have cheap under the table labor, no matter what!!!!

So the real question should be-Why do we persecute the laborers who come to find abundantly available jobs, rather than punishing the Americans who hire illegals in order to escape following the law and paying a livable minimum wage????

It isn't meant to be positive for Americans! It is solely to help the poor, hard-working, only-looking-for-a-better-life, border jumping criminals who have infiltrated our country and are attempting to take over. There is not one thing in that program that will benefit a law abiding, American citizen. Obviously, I am opposed to it. These people have committed a felony offense by sneaking into our country undocumented. How can we simply forgive them. It's a bunch of crap. Mostly, I think it is a real hard slap in the face to those people who have migrated to America the legal way. I don't mind people coming here to work, but come with paperwork and be accounted for.

As for open-mindedness, my open minded opinion is: Do it legally or don't come here.

It makes people open their minds and think about all the wrongs they have made. Some people will always be close minded but if you are able to open the mind of one person, then, the amnesty program has done its job.

It is NOT good for WHITE AMERICANS. It works great for blacks as it provides people who actually work to pay some taxes to support the black population better. It also will, in the long run, effectively eliminate the middle class separating the population into a Master/Slave society.

There is nothing GOOD to come from this for anyone who is NOT an elitist or black.

It isn't supposed to work in a positive way for Americans. It's supposed to provide slave labor for big business and the rich.
