submerge in a bowl of water and microwave under defrost for 5-10 mins. It won't cook the chicken like it sometimes does when you over defrost.

What is "dethaw"? I have heard of defrost and thaw? Is dethaw different to thaw? I thaw my chicken in the microwave. If the chicken is 900 gms, I set the thaw for only 800gms, that way the chicken doesn't cook. If you are trying to thaw breasts, it is better not to use the microwave, as it tends to cook the chicken

If you don't want to microwave it at a low level or douse it with warm water, you can wrap aluminum foil around it. Aluminum is a great heat/cold conductor and is really the best method without changing the flavor or texture of the chicken.

Yes, I agree with everyone who said cold water. For goodness sakes, don't listen to the person who said hot water. You're only asking for trouble that way.
