If you mean that you believe that you have been visited by someone who has passed over, then yes it is possible that they are around you in spirit, especially loved ones.
Many who pass from this physical world cannot leave the realms of this dimention for many reasons and can be trying to tell you this.

No. Go for the simplest and most logical explanation always. If you dream of someone who has died, then you were thinking of them. If you knew they were sick already, then your mind is acting out scenarios for you - what-ifs.

When discussing ESP and testing for the reality of an ESP event, you have to be very confident of all the facts - time, place, prior knowledge or expectations, likelihood of the 'predicted' even happening, and so on. Personally, I don't discount the idea that people can speak to us in dreams. I just haven't come across any conclusive evidence ever.

Even if the dream was caused simply by you thinking about the person, it may still carry a valuable message to you. Dreams often come from the subconscious and are a way our mind has of reminding us of the importance of things we may have pushed to the back of our mind for some reason.

I read about dying in a dream book. It said that when you dream of someone else dying it usually means that person is moving on to different phase in their life. An example would be dreaming of your 5 year old child dying. The child is probably going to have their first day of school soon, the start of a new phase.

I like to think so, although there is no scientific explanation or proof of this happening.
I think it is a good way of mourning if you have just lost someone, and a lovely way to keep a loved one alive in your mind if they have been gone a while.
I love the fact that when I dream of my grandparents, I wake up in the morning feeling as if I have seen them recently.
If any belief in the supernatural makes you feel happy, or connected, then use it to your advantage, and embrace the fact that someone out there is probably think of you, trying to help you, and make you feel loved.

It is an old wives tale that the dead can communicate to you through your dreams, however, I do believe that nothing is impossible. I think it depends on your knowledge of yourself - do YOU believe it was a message? Only you would know within your heart.

no because they are dead they are unable to comunicate with the living. of course if you are dead and dream this, they might be desperately trying to contact you. then again why do you waste time with such a ridiculous question. when i was dead i dreamt of eating hot buttered crumpets

I presume so..coz i think that's the only way they can communicate with us. Besides, in Islam we believe that when we are sleeping we are actually in a state of unconscious (semi-dead)

Death in a dream is meant to symbolize a re-birth of sorts.

The only 'person' who would want to get a message to you in dreams would be God (I said 'person' because God is not a person He is God)

And unless you know it is God talking to you it is probably just your imagination so it is just best to ignore.
