If it's a first or second date, then did he ask her out or did she ask him? If he asked her, she should tell him that she will pay the ticket, but that she was not anticipating paying for a date he asked her out on, and that her budget really can't take the hit, so she will go with him to his house on the way back to hers so he can get his wallet from home before he drops her off and write her a check. If she has any concern that perhaps he forgot on purpose, she should cash the check the next business day at his bank, and not plan to see him again. If he stops payment on the check, then she can consider the money to have been invested in exploring his character, and move on.

If she asked him, she shouldn't have expected him to pay for the date, and she should be paying for the date.

If they've been together awhile, she should just pay it and forget about it. It can be his turn next time.

It depends. If we both understood that he was paying for the meal and he said that, I would give him the benefit of the doubt, pay for the meal and tell him that we could go back to his place to get his wallet to reimburse me just to see if he was being honest. If he finally tells me that he had no money to pay for the meal, I wouldn't be turned off by him because he had no money but turned off for him being dishonest and sneaky.

well that really depends on how well I know the guy/ If I believed him and so forth......My husband actually did this when we were still dating once but I just paid for the meal and we went back to my house to see if his wallet was there which it was

It depends on the history with this guy. If you've been dating for a little while, no problem I'll get this one. First day, walk out, and never look back.

Thats a hard one..
I would be quite upset over that situation..
I guess if I had the money I would pick up the tab but I would expect payment back as soon as we left..
I really dont know and hope it would never happen to me..

well, if he was the one who arranged the dinner, then he has to pay no matter what. its just what they call... courtesy. but if he really did leave his wallet, i'll just say "i'll pay first. then we'll go back to ur place so u can pay me back". but if i planned the dinner, then i'd pay. its usually the guys who pay. but i dont mind paying once in a while.

pay for it. but if he says that again the next time we go out, it'll be the last time he sees me. not that im materialistic, but if he's gonna make me feel like he's eating off me, i'd say he could be trouble. i dont need a man who'd buy me diamonds, i just want one who wouldnt be a financial burden. sorry.

I would pay the meal, and the next one would be his turn. Yet I would worry that maybe he did it on purpose maybe, if I didn't know him that well yet..
