How long should you date someone before you have sex with them?

I am about to be 18 years old and my boyfriend is 18. We have been dating 4 months. We really really care for one another. We love each other. We want to wait till next year or possibly until we get married. I just want to see people's opinions about how long to wait.

i personally wait 4 months but some people say a year don't do it any earlier then 1 month and you need to know for a fact that you love them before you go and have sex with them

i go with the 3rd date rule, but there have been exceptions. generally, when you feel the time is right for you, then thats the time for sex. as long as you dont feel pressured.

i think the longer you can wait the better it will benefit your relationship.

and if you like them less maybe 3 weeks or so
