Laminate because now it is glue free just click it in place you can dismantle it if you damage 1 piece also a good underlay will stop it being noisy and a decent one will Not scratch with dog paws the only way it would get damaged is if you drop a sharp instrument like a chisel or something.

We just built a new house used hickory flooring in the kitchen, dining, living room and hallways I would highly recommend hardwood flooring. Hardwood flooring is very east to take care of and cleans with just a little water. We had tiles in our old house the grout lines were impossible to keep clean and the tiles cracked and chipped, The only disadvantage to both of these are that they are slippery if you have kids or pets running around

We have laminate, and although I like it, I worry now that it is going to look dated in a few years time - it was such a fad.

Laminate is really noisy under foot too, especially if you have pets!

It's good for cleaning though as it doesn't have the gaps that tiles have so there is nowhere for the grime to escape to.

Laminate floors tend to be noisy, dusty and can look cheap and nasty. Go for the best you can afford to avoid stains and horrible fine scratches that appear with normal wear and tear, especially if you have pets - their claws will scratch. Children (and adults) with toys etc. Do whatever you feel comfortable with. Check out your family and friends homes, or visit show homes.....
Same can apply to tiles, too.

Laminate. It is so much easier to work with, and very forgiving, and personally I prefer the way it looks. Did my kitchen in it 2 years ago, I highly recommend it. I had previously done it in tile and my wife HATED it. This is just my personal opinion, though....

It is a matter of your personal taste, and how well one of the
two will go with the rest of your choices. I have the wood laminate and like it very much.
