Yes, in fact it's the thing that makes the most sense. You should always choose what you believe is right, not what others believe is right. That way, even if you're wrong, you've done your best. I think God would understand.

In a word: "ABSOLUTELY". Belief in a particular religion is a highly personal thing... about as subjective as you can get... and the reasons your parents have for following a particular creed may not apply to you.

I was born and raised Catholic... had a parochial education through high school (Jesuit, no less)... and yet, I am, and have been for over 40 years... a devout atheist... which happened when I studied religion as an adult and realized it's just a bunch of nonsense... a man made thing to control people for the sole purpose of self perpetuation of the religion or used for political purposes. Stalin called religion "Opium for the Masses" and he wasn't wrong.

Today, at 67 years of age, I would have to say that, if I were to embrace a major religion, it would be Buddhaism because the beliefs of that religion most closely match my own... but that would not have been true 50 years ago because I wasn't mature enough at the time.

Absolutely. This is a "Christian" answer but here goes. The Bible tells us to not just listen to what people 'tell' us but to study, educate ourselves and find the truth and if we do so we will find the truth.'
God does not want a 'blind believer' how real is that?
Study, learn and come to your conclusions.
I was struggling ALOT and read the book "A Case For Christ" by Lee Strobel. He was an atheist who set out to DISPROVE the Bible and became a Christian based on his research from a historical, educational, legal, and fact finding viewpoint. It was amazing.

Of course. Only through yourself can you really find the truth about anything! Other people, no matter what they say, will only ever have their own agendas at heart. For example, someone preaching to you about their particular religion, is doing it so THEY will feel THEY have done the right thing and possibly because THEY will gain better favour with the object of THEIR belief.

(sunpekes is a perfect example-I wonder, does he feel superior to all us 'unintelligent' ones, in any way...?lol)

Good luck!

We were created to Praise and Worship our Creator, God the Father. His Son Jesus Christ formed us in His own image and breathed into our nostrils and we became a living soul.
We betrayed God in the garden of Eden when Eve was tempted by the devil and she ate of the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Then she gave the fruit to Adam and he ate also.
Eve had been told by the Devil, in the form of a serpent, that if she ate of the fruit that she would be like god. But this brought sin and death on mankind.
God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son that whosoever would believe on Him should not died but have everlasting life. John 3:16
I Pray that this helps you.
David

It's okay by different people. It's fine by me, if your older now you can make your own choices and you dont have to bother to listen to your parents. They however might not appreciate it. You need to find out what you believe in. You dont have to follow everything your parents do even though some people.
but in some other religions it may be considered against that religion to worship some other religion.

That's kinda what I did. I decided to leave Catholicism and look for something else. I looked at a few different religions and for a while leaned toward Buddhism, but finally chose Wicca.

So I would say it's OK.

Commandments:
Honor your Father and Mother!
Learn the truth and worship God / Jehovah!
Many study other religions, but it just serves to confuse the truth.
Few have sufficient intelligence to 'by them selves' sort out the truth from misunderstandings.
You will confuse what you read and misinterpret what came from where.

It is better to study the Bible (KJV) and let it interpret itself, and then find a church that follows what you have learned, then it is to do it the other way around. This way you follow your spirit, and not you carnal heart. If you need help, or anyone else, just em me.

Yes. This is what Joshua, Moses successor said:'fear the LORD and remove the gods that your FOREFATHERS served...' (Josh. 24:14) Jesus also said: 'he that has greater affection for father or mother than for me, is not worthy of me'. (Mat 10:37)

So, there you are. Change your religion if it is not the truth. How do you know the truth? Among others try these criterias: (a) does that religious organization practice real love--no racial discrimination among themselves, help one another in times of need? (b) do they change their beliefs if these are not in accordance with God's Words ? (c) do they make holy the name of God (Jehovah ), or have they deleted God's name from their Bible? (d) Are they separate from this world--meaning do they avoid practises of this world that are not in accordance with God's laws, or do they tolerate and practice it (like homosexuality, etc)
