Hi there! I have the exact same problem, plus it's super-thick. I've decided that people with hair like us have but two choices: Either leave it long enough to put back in a ponytail (like I do, every single day, wow that's exciting! NOT), or get it all cut off short and cute.
Either way, you have to put some sort of product in it to make it curl rather than frizz... I generally use mousse at any length, and a little waxy stuff when it's short. Right now it's long, hot, completely style-less ('cause face it, you really can't style this kind of hair), and uncontrollable, so I've spent hours over the last few weeks perusing internet sites looking for pictures of short, curly hairstyles, trying to decide whether or not I'm ready to take the plunge again.
There are way too many sites to try and list here, and way to many pictures, so I'll just tell you that your best bet is to do a google search for something like "curly hairstyles," "long curly hairstyles," "short curly hairstyles," etc.... you get the idea. Grab some coffee and be prepared to sit for awhile!! LOL

Get a hair dresser to straighten it with a relaxer and two weeks later add highlights - blondish or bronze is nice.

How about long layers and a shoulder length cut? Maybe get some nice highlights.

It depends what kind of curl.. Do you have ringlets?? I think you should color it the more vivid version of your own natural color, and maybe you should visit a stylist to tell you how to tame your curls and make them into sensual waves like the picture link I have at the bottom.

Try to find some japanese girls photos,Many of them have very beautiful long and curly hair.In my country,Malaysia,you can see so many girls perm their hair with japanese style,very nice.Even myself have a good japanese hairstyle,hehe...All the saloon doing or cut japanese hair style here,Try it!

maybe you can cut into a short style and you use a curling mousse to smooth your hair into natural looking curls.

Maybe you should straighten your hair and cut it until it reach to your shoulder. And colour your hair also.
