Sounds like your doctors believe your migraines is caused from stress. Have you ever tried chiropractic treatment? I used to get migraines to the point I couldn't function. Any kind of light or sound would make it worse. My stomach would bother me also. I felt like I was going to get sick. It was non stop 24/7.
I went to my family doctor and they perscribed medicine, but it only ease the pain just a little.
I live a stressful life and thought that was part of the reason for the migraines. I went to a chiropracticor and after a coulple of days my pain started to go away. I go once a month now and I haven't sufferd a migraine since I started doing this.
It's not a home remedie but if you can try out chiropratic it may be your solution.
As far as home remedies I would lay down in a dark room with a cold rag on my head and over my eyes. I would just lay their and feel sorry for myself. Not much of life though and not always possible to do.

Hylands makes a homeopathic blend that comes in a tablet form. Place two or three under your tongue and they desolve instantly. While a bit chalky, they do seem to help. I know it's a bit unorthodox and someone out there will complain, but I keep a can of Mountain Dew or Jolt in the fridge at all times that is labled Migraine relief (that way my husband or employees at work don't drink it on me). When I start to feel it coming (and most of us do) I drink the whole thing as quickly as possible. It has been said that the caffine will expand the blood vessels and help the flow of blood. A migraine is when there is a constriction of the blood vessels and blood flow is limited, so this is suppposed to work (and for me it does). Now, the problem with this is that you have to limit your caffine consumption at all other times, so that the jolt of caffine is actually going to do something. When possible as well, I keep a small ice pack in the freezer so that I can sit in a comfortable chair with the ice pack on the pain. This also is supposed to reduce the swelling and help the blood flow better.
You can possibly predict them too...most of my migraines come from either hormone fluctuation (when it's nearly "that time of the month") or when I'm over-heated (outside when the temps are high and humidity higher). While there isn't much you can do hormonally, you can make sure that you are well hydrated at all times (water is best, stay away from high-sugar drinks) and well rested, when possible.

I suffered exactly like you do now...2-3x a month of migraine. It's crippling!!! I'd give up anything to get rid of it. I have tried excedrin and any pain reliever over the counter. NOTHING worked. It was so bad I couldn't focus on anything. Then one day I tried green tea which I bought from an Asian supermarket. I boiled enough water for a cup of it and guess what...my migraine was gone after 20 minutes. I could not believe it. It was a hallelujah moment for me. Since then, everytime I get migraine, and I could feel it like kind of crawling from the back of my neck first going out of its way to my back....I drink 1-2 cups of green tea right away. Same result and never fails...20-40 minutes later, the migraine is gone!!! I heard a lot of good benefits from green tea but what it does for my migraine is really wonderful. It's a natural pain reliever. I don't think I can live without it. I'm just wondering if every green tea out there has the same effect. I bought "The Vert" green tea made in China. I highly recommend it.

I get migraines, had one last week. Here's a few home remedies that help me when I have one:
Hydrate: by drinking A LOT of water.
Eat tons of protein: eggs, bacon, hamburger, cheese, etc. and use hot sauce on it. Hot sauce has the same effects as iodine, but internal instead of external. It will open the sinuses.
Caffeine: Coffee and chocolate.
Aroma therapy: Mint oil on the neck, temples, a touch in the nostrils and in a oil burner. Save yourself a ton of money and buy McCormicks mint extract in the spice section. It does the same for a quarter of the price.
Rest: nothing wrong with a lot of rest and relaxtion when battling a migraine.

Well, no remedy, but a one-time treatment called Atlasprofilax.
The effects on migraines are really amazing! You should get rid of them completely. I've experienced the treatment myself, but for other symptoms.
Just - the treatment is available in California and Europe only, costing approx. 220 dollars. It's worth travelling far! :-)

Two extra strength excedrein and one Dramamine, and sleep for a few hours. If you still have a little of the headache, after four hours, take two more excedrin. Headache should be gone with-in two hours.
