After having my daughter 4 months ago, it seems my teeth have developed cavities. Is it because I am breastfeeding and the baby is taking my calcium?
I have been drinking lot of milk for extra calcium but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Same happened to me. I was living with in-laws early in my pregnancy, and they complained about the milk disappearing so quickly. My husband refused to buy me my own gallon of milk.

When I was six months pregnant we moved out, and I started drinking milk, but when I later went to the dentist, I needed many fillings.

I was told that the baby will take the mother's Calcium during pregnancy. You may also check for more easily absorbed forms of Calcium. I know that other nutrients will affect how Calcium is absorbed.

During pregnancy the baby will take everything it needs from the mother...including calcium..if the mother isn't eating properly, the baby will still get its requirements, no matter what..this leaves the mother with less nutrients..this can be the cause of tooth decay.
Also, this is a time when cravings set in, and a mother might eat things which she normally would not, including sugar!!...and just by adding a few spooonfuls of sugar to coffee, or drinking coca cola, she can be setting herself up for alot of decay.
Pregnancy gingivitis can also be a problem at this time, hormones are fluctuating, and the gingiva will become red and swollen and bleedy in many women..proper oral hygiene, flossing, and good brushing technique is very important during this time of her life...including regular checkups to the dentist and hygienist...proper nutrition is also very important.
Taking the calcium now is a good idea, but the damage has already been done, the pregnancy time has robbed you of essential nutrients, perhaps, but taking the vitamins and calcium will set you up for less decay in future visits.

During pregnancy and immediately after confinement many women have increased blood glucose (not necessarily diabetes). That coupled with increased intake of carbohydrates accounts for dental cavities. One may take extra calcium for better teeth.

Yes that is exactly what it is. Along with carrying a child they drain calciulm out of you. As soon as I got pregnat my doctor told me to take Oscal with Calcium it is a good vitamin for bones.

No, not at all. It is due to the sweets you have taken more , or not cleaning your teeth properly, or carelessness to attend and treat the infected tooth. Better see a dentist.
