Many times people confuse the two. I think pride is usually bad, and dignity is usually good - putting it very simply. What do you think?

well, dignity is something u must have. pride on the other hand, is expandable.

I think pride, in some instances, is ego-based. There are several things one can be proud of, and sometimes one will let pride take over and cloud judgment. I'm not saying not to take pride in your home, work, hobbies, et al, but you have to know when to ask for help, quit, or humble yourself. Dignity is fueled by more modest motivation. IE: one can walk away from a less than desirable situation, and still know who they are, what they want, and where they are going, so the problem that exists today is just a proverbial "bump in the road", but to maintain and practice dignity will be forever.

I think in some cases the two go hand in hand but i think the to are a bit hard to get confused I guess it would depend on how the person was viewing them selves and how the felt about the situation MAYBE

Pride is a high opinion of ones dignity, and dignity is 'bearing, conduct, or speech indicative of self-respect or appreciation of the formality, gravity of an occasion, also salvation of character; worthiness.' A christian is to be dignified.

How about this for an example--I did my school paper with pride and have enough dignity as not to cheat doing it.

There are many factors looked upon as good or bad, when really it is a question of degree.
Pride is a good thing in little doses.
Its sometime called self-respect.
Its only when its exaggerated, or taken to the extreme that it become a negative factor.
The same for hate.
Its always thought of as bad.
Not really.
We should hate what is bad.
Same with jealousy.
All these factors are negative only when taken to the extreme.

I think dignity always has a basis, while pride sometimes does not. JMO

Pride is an emotion.
Dignity is a demonstrated behavior.
