The dead chicken thing doesn't work and is disgusting if your dog comes inside. The only way I have found to keep dogs from chasing chickens is to keep them separated until the dog has learned that chickens are a no-no (if ever. Some dogs get it, some don't).

I have pens for my chickens but the dogs still want to go down there and bark and upset the chickens, so here's what I do:

I take the dogs out for their off-leash time early in the morning before I open the little doors to let the chickens out into their pens. (We shut them at night to keep out skunks and such.) For the rest of the day, the dogs are on their chains, in the house, or on leashes. After the chickens go in to roost in the evening, I shut the doors and then the dogs can have some off leash time again.

When on the leash, I tell them "NO!" of they want to go after a chicken. With my old sheepdog Grett (passed away last year) he learned to leave them alone and even protect them from other dogs. My new dogs, Jasmine and Gypsy, are half Shepherd and don't seem ot have the same protective instincts as Grett, so they still want to chase. I'm working on it...

After you catch the dog chasing the chickens? Get a chicken and put it in front of the dog and tell the dog NO! and a lil smack on the butt. Do this a few times and see what happens. Repeat as neccessary. May take a few times actually. But, eventually, the dogs will remember the word No, for the chickens.

Most the time when a dog starts chasing chickens it is very hard to break. The only way really is keep the chickens penned up where they are safe, or keep your dog up until the chickens go in to roost.

My husband says tie a dead chicken around it's neck until it rots off he says it will never chase a chicken again. Old timers used to do this they also do it if a dog is killing chickens.

Dogs chase chickens, it's life. Put your dog on a leash.

Get rid of the dogs or the chickens.

Put up a fence or put the dog on a leash and train him not to. Of course, if he's a terrier or a herding dog, nothing will help when you're not around to tell him no!

in the event that they kill chickens they have been given the flavor and dont supply it up truly... yet I thaught a dogs to no longer anymore by making use of putting the ineffective chicken around their neck and lead them to positioned on it like a collar... save it there as long as available and do it back in case you ought to and that they get the message....
