I have had a similar problem since January. Every time I go to my primary doctor for the white spots on my tonsils, he tells me that they are dust deposits. I asked him to explain the accompanying fever each time there is a breakout and he didn't know the answer. I went to a different doctor, and this doctor says that I need my tonsils out.
The moral of this story: Get a second opinion.

Go back to your doctor again or if you don't trust that doctor go to another one and they can check out your throat. Let them know you've been there already but it keeps coming back. No, you're not a hypochondriac, unless you do this all the time and complain about everything.

If your throat is still sore then you are still ill. Antibiotics only work on bacteria, you could have a viral infection that cannot be cured by antibiotics. Go back to your doctor.

what about allergies to dust n your house? I have been waking up with a sore throat every morning for awhile and then we cleaned the bedroom really good. (especially under the bed- where all the dust bunnies live) and now I am feeling much better.
Good Luck!

First of all I had the same condition and it was a result of smoking for so many years so obviously I chose to stop smoking. Now if you dont smoke I would suggest speaking with your family physician about examing your tonsils and adnoids because they could be infected.

If you think that you have signs of hypochondria..but there's nothing associated with your complains of sore throat..If that conditions os recurrent, then better visit another specialist( a good oto-laringhologyst)..Why you don't try Alternative medicine,it's really workable in cases of sore throat problems..Don't underestimate the power of natural ingredients, like teas(Camomile,Minth etc),honey, fresh juices..Good luck!!

I had mono when I was a kid. Sounds like the same thing. Have your doctor do some blood tests for mono. Try gargling warm salt water in the mean time.

get second opinion by getting another doctor to check on you... maybe the antibiotics given by the previous physician is not suited to your ailment
