If I have a good health insurance policy, is it worth it to get cancer insurance on top of that, or is it unnecessary? If anybody has had good or bad experiences with cancer insurance, I'd like to hear from you.

It is not necessary if you already have comprehensive coverage. AFLAC sells cancer insurance to many trailer park residents. It appears to be cheap because it's unlikely that you will ever collect.

The cancer insurance I have through my employer has been an absolute Godsend! We received about $25k in total over and above what BCBS paid, directly to us, which made a big difference. The ironic thing is, that I had actually planned to cancel it, but forgot to send in the paperwork, and my husband was diagnosed with colorectal cancer the next year. Right now, that 5 dollars a week it costs me is looking pretty good. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about cancer insurance. It can be a real help at a really difficult time.

If you have a good health insurance policy then no, it is not necessary to purchase cancer insurance on top of your current policy. This is more for people who are likely to be prone to cancer or do have a not so good health policy, or even one at all.

I think so, but I don't have a family history of cancer. If you do maybe you should take it. But maybe the money you would spend on it would be better off being saved then invest towards your retirement.

If you have a good ins. like bc/bs you don't need anything else. However bc/bs has several types of policies. check your coverage. Never buy accident ins. It never pays.
