Sandy we know you asked about the generations. The Jews were to marry their own kind and the generations are important to the genetics of the early Jew. The house of Israel had other children that were from Abraham but they disappeared as they didn't keep records religiously. The Jews knew there was a serious reason for the records of genealogy as it help the secret to their race.

Everywhere. The bible separates the races of people by only two categories, gentiles and Jews, so, if your not Jewish, your a gentile. After the flood Noah's three sons, Shem, Ham,and Japheth became the three patriarchal figures from which todays populace derived. The Jewish people are descendants of Shem, as are most people of Mideastern persuasion. The Gentiles that expanded farther out from where the Ark settled on Mt Ararat to points northeast and west are the descendants of Japheth and the generations that journeyed Southeast and West are descendants of Ham. The Physiological differences that we see today are a result of varying effects of ultraviolet exposure after the vapor canopy which enveloped the earth was removed. There was not enough water upon the surface of the earth to create the flood so God opened the window of heaven [creating what today we call the hole in the ozone layer] and the original protective vapor canopy fell to the earth. After centuries of exposure to the nakedness of solar influence we now show our origins by the physiological differences that we display. But to refer back to your question the majority of individuals are Gentile and only a specifically chosen few also known as Hebrews from the name of Ebron are non-gentile.

There are very few in the Old Testament, beginning with Genesis and continuing through much of the Old Testament.
Because the Bible is the story of God's dealing with His people, and how He has worked through them to reach the world, the focus of the Bible is on His people. However, even the very narrow genealogies in the Bible are far from exhaustive, and the ones that are included are mainly included because of the men who were strongly involved in God's cause, or because they were in the lineage that proves Christ was a descendant of Adam.
God did not give an exhaustive picture of the whole world, He just gave what was necessary to show the plan of salvation is complete, and to give every person the opportunity, based on the evidence provided, to know God, and to accept His salvation.

The words 'generations of gentiles' are not in the bible. If you are not Jewish, you are gentile.

You may be referring to Luke 21:24.
If yes, it refers to a period of time.
It refers to a period of time when God would have no kingdom on earth ....as he did with the nation of Israel, he was represented by them.
The period started in 607 B.C. when Babylon desecrated Israel.
Since, in Luke 21:24, Jesus refers to that period as still on-going, it wasn't finished in Jesus' day.
Some would have you believe it came to an end in 1914.
Whatever, its still a period of time.
