I think that the truest and the best answer to this question is one that is true for everybody, from a newborn child to an elderly retired man or woman.

And one thing that makes life meaningful and happy for everyone without exception is loving relationships with other people.

The love of a mother makes life happy and meaningful for a newborn baby just as much as the love of an adult child makes the life of an elderly mother happy and meaningful. And in between these extreme ages, more or less equal love-relationships also make life happy and meaningful for everybody.

If you want to be truly happy and have a sense of meaning, then you have to find and create true love relationships with those around you.

Love is the meaning of life. And love is what makes people truly happy more than anything else does.

The true meaning of life is living the life God has given you to the fullest of your capability. God has given us all certain qualities that enable us to do this. It may be some special talent, a special gift, wisdom, etc. What ever He has bestowed upon you, it is up to you to use it to live your life, thus making you happy. Most people mistakenly think having money or a nice car, or a big house would make them happy. But if you think about it, God didn't give you those things, you acquire them. God gave you everything you needed when you were born.

The true meaning of life is found in the theme of the Bible. The theme is this. You will find happiness with true peace and security when God's government, the one you pray for in the "Our Father" prayer, will bring an end to Satan, his demons and the wicked of mankind and then restore the earth to a paradise as was originally intended. There your every desire will be fulfilled and you will life forever in total happiness.

According to Jesus:

Matthew 22
36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

seek help in patience and As-Salat (the prayer) and truly it is extremely heavy and hard except for Al-Khashioon (i.e. the true believers in Allah - those who obey Allah with full submission, fear much from His Punishment, and believe in His Promise (Paradise, etc.) and in His Warnings (Hell, etc.)).
And this (submission to Allah, Islam) was enjoined by Ibrahim (Abraham) upon his sons and by Yaqoob (Jacob), (saying), "O my sons! Allah has chosen for you the (true) religion, then die not except in the Faith of Islam (as Muslims - Islamic Monotheism)."
O you who believe! Fear Allah (by doing all that He has ordered and by abstaining from all that He has forbidden) as He should be feared. (Obey Him, be thankful to Him, and remember Him always), and die not except in a state of Islam (as Muslims) with complete submission to Allah.
