faux pas, according to dictionary.com, means a social blunder or a socially awkward or tactless act. Translated directly from french though, it means false step.
haute couture, according to dictionary.com, means trend-setting fashions, high fashion, high style. Many of the top designers have a haute couture line...it's a bit off the wall styles that the typical person would not really wear...it's all about artistic expression rather than wearability.

What does "Faux Pas" and "Haute Couture" mean?
I mean, I see them everywhere; have a faint idea that the latter means hot culture, but seriously!
