The Bible addresses several beautiful examples of same-sex love, David's love for Jonathan was said to exceed his love for women (2 Samuel1:26)

Ruth's relationship with Naomi is an example of a deep, bonding love, and Ruth's words of covenant to Naomi are often used in heterosexual wedding ceremonies (Ruth 1:16-17)

The Bible has very little to say about homosexuality and Jesus himself said nothing about it at all in the New Testament.

jana bo nana, there you go quoting the Old Testament again and the Christians here keep telling me the Old Testament is not to be followed by Christians. So which is it?... are you Arthur or Martha, you just don't seem to be able to decide for yourselves, anything you can find anywhere to back up your prejudices, its that it?.

No matter how many times people get told the truth about homosexuality and the Bible, the ones who want to continue being hateful and bigoted will do so.

The Bible has very much to say about homosexuality and Jesus had a great deal to say about it in the new testament as well. Perhaps you have simply never read it.

Bible readers who give the scriptures more than a cursory consideration are well aware of the deep loving friendship between David and Jonathan as well as the deep love between Ruth and her mother-in-law, Naomi. What is there to be said though for those who do a twisting and wrestling of the scriptures?

If you look at 1 Cor 13: 1-13, the greatest gift of the Holy Spirit is the Gift of Love. There is no discussion here about it being strightly a gift given to "straight" people. In fact those who judge us for being gay and say we are going to hell, should remember the old line "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone".

However St. Paul does suggest the those who are involied in same-sex-relations are not destined for heaven, but this has always made me wonder about Paul (formerly Saul), because of his upbringing. Paul was from the start, a Citizen of Rome and same-sex activities were common place there. Very little is known about Paul prior to his entry into sacred scripture. The fact that he was converted literally by a Divine Action, his changes could have included all Rome stood for, thus condeming same-sex activities.

Your two references, from the Old Testament will no doubt be ripped apart by those on here who are either fundamentalists, gay bashers or those who just can't wrap thier heads around "Gay Love". Further, there is no clear reference about gay love etc in any of the 4 Gospel's with a small exception:

"Seeing his mother and the disciple whom he loved, standing near her..." John 19: 26a

You are free to draw your own conclutions.

Peace be with you.

Bp. David

I think you are deluding yourself. Hebrews follow the Old Testament. The faithful are opposed to homosexuality, because that is what the faith teaches.
Christians follow the New Testament. Catholics and conservatives are opposed to homosexuality because that is what the religion teaches.
In both cases, teachings are based on the Bible.
Not everyone who "loves" someone else has sex with that person. Children love their parents. Parents love their children. Good Christians love everyone.
If you want ammo from the Bible to support a gay life style, you will not find anything.

Sex is not love...get it strait! I love my friend Katie and my friend Carolyn and my friend Erica...but I don't desire to have sex with them. I have one friend that I would put my life on the line for and that is my husband. Him I do desire..however, I would still love him if he were rendered somehow unable to have sex with me such as an accident or illness. So...when two people find a connection and you depreciate that bond by always assuming there was sex added to the equation you are being base, crass and twisted. Naomi was Ruth's mother-in-law and was instrumetal in orchestrating Ruth's marriage to Boaz. David wrote the Psalms. The Bible has alot to say about homosexuality..Sodem and Gommorah and etc. Jesus says

Mark

5And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

6But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

7For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

8And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

9What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

His validating the act of homosexuality and saying it is a good thing should be noted as conspicuous by its absence. The Bible values love...but sex and love are not nor have they ever been synonomous. The homosexual life style has been called an abomination in scripture...its been addressed..enough said. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

Who said that love is the same as sex?

and who said the new testament is no longer a part of the bible. read this.

2Tm:3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

At that time the new testament was not yet written.

Are you trying to say the Bible is promoting homomsexuality? Because is so Wrong. The Bible said David and Jonathan were best friends. And the Bible speaks strongly against homosexuality.

first the bible is written a very long time ago. it is not valid anymore.

second, it is not even written by jesus himself, but by people who re-wrote what was passed on to them by the teachings of the different gospels (like that of mary magdalene, thomas, peter... etc.); meaning through many translations something must have fallen out of context - making it more not valid for today.

third, why do you believe in such things when all you need is love and live life!

Well in a way, but sexual love between two person's of the same sex is viewed as "unatrural" in the Bible.

If you say that the bible has "little to say about homosexuality" you definately haven't read it from cover to cover. Try Romans and Leviticus.

However, we are to love each other as Christ loves us. "Judge not, for in the same manner you judge others you will be judged." Jesus' words.
