I think it is something to do with magnetism but knowing that doesn't help sort the bloody picture out. Yes it was a cheap as chips TV, but I still would prefer not to buy a new one as it works fine apart from that

The magnets in the speakers certainly did cause the problem..... If they are external, try removing them to a location further from the set!

If they are internal to the set, then it sounds as if they are not very well sheilded from the tube..... a TV repair shop may be able to do this for you.... Please don't try to do it your self as the EHT voltages to a TV tube are very high!

Check if your TV set has a manual 'Deguasse' function and use that several times, as it may help! The deguasse function creates a magnetic field which is then reduced to nil, this as the effect of cancelling any magnetic problems that may have affected the tube by, say, turning the TV to face a different direction! A TV set should auto-deguasse at switch on anyway, but some TV's have a seperate function which sometimes works better!

I don't recomend running magnets about the screen..... You'll just create more problems and probably ruin the tube forever!

If all else fails..... It's a choice between green people and a new TV!

Hope thisis of Help!

If you have added speakers then they may be too close to the TV. Also the TVs today are self degaussing and do this when you turn off the main switch for a while and then turn it back on. Not the one on the remote. the one on the tv or unplug it for a while and then plug it in again. If you have any other electronic device near the TV then move it and see what happens. Yes it has to do with magnetism.

Yes it can in most cases. My tv went like that, i took it to a tv repair shop the man used a strong magnet, he started in the center of the screen and slowly rotated in circular motions until he reached the edge. This dragged all the excess colours out.

You might also have your speakers to close to your tv, if you don't want to take the set to a repair shop try using a very strong speaker magnet and doing it yourself.

Magnets in speakers cause problems. The solution, move the speakers away from the TV set. If they are built in speakers, take the TV back to the shop as it is a design fault.

That's a ridiculous design for a TV if the speakers are actually attached to it by the screen as it is the magnets in the speakers that cause the discolouration.

Nothing you can do really unless these speakers are detachable.

first of all get your speakers away from the tv. Then take a strong magnet, (speaker magnet works) and you can run that in front of the tv, towards the edge, and pull the strange color out. It might take some practice, but it can be done.

As it is already green, occasionally running a magnet along the side of the green panel helps, otherwise go buy a new one!

The same thing happened to my TV and when i took it to the repair shop the guy said when it goes green then it's not worth repairing. He said "one day you'll put the TV on and it wont come on" He was true to his word as within 4 weeks it broke down completely.
