I always hear the "what if" remark. What if there really is a God, then what will you say when you die? Well I propose what if there isn't a God, and we've wasted our lives not enjoying the fruitfulness of sin? What if we die and our lives weren't fulfilled because we wasted worshipping and obeying something that never existed?

Basically, why should I waste my life feeling guilty?

I bring that "what if" up all the time. It is one of the major reason that I don't just follow everyone else and believe in God. It's ridiculous to waste your life "just in case" when you never believed in the first place. One of your statements I don't agree with though is, "and we've wasted our lives not enjoying the fruitfulness of sin." Okay, just because I'm an atheist doesn't mean I'm any different than a Christian, morality wise. We all "sin". Everyone. I choose to be good, do moral things, and make wise choices in life not because I'm trying to get into Heaven or please some God but because it is the right thing to do. Anyway, I do my best to leave the Christians alone. They're the most narrow-minded hate-filled people ever when it comes to tolerance of others different from them.

No! Not at all!
Religion is "way-of-life" and that applies to whatever way of life you choose to live.
Some people claim to be atheist but they actually worship a God of some sort, sometimes they worship their own lusts and selfish desires and that is where the time will be wasted.
Some worship democracy because that is also a religion, while others worship alcoholism because the alcohol is their God, whether moderate or not it is an addiction.
The problem begins when men legislate to control human life when the Creator has already set down His Laws, but we will all return to Him and He will tell us the Truth of what we did.
Dont waste your life seeing a Church as religion because the Church is a partner with democracy, and will sell you out after it has used you like so many on this website who have been sucked into the Church and the born-again, gone-again thing.
Islam is not a Church and has no clergy as the fake-sheikhs and the Mislamic websites pretend.
Islam is between a man and his Lord.
Again, dont waste the gift of life. Remember, you didn't ask for it and you weren't allowed to choose it. No man witnessed his own creation.
Come to Islam.

"Only God can judge me!" -2pac
I was raised in a family that didn't have any time to spend sitting in a pretty building listening to some guy, who supposedly "has the Lord with him!!" My parents commuted to work all week long so we would take advantage of the weekends we spent together....but my grandma was brought up a faithful Roman Catholic, so she taught me everything she could before she passed on! And, she always used to tell me, "God forgives all!!" 2pac's quote "Only God can judge me!!" He's telling us that it doesn't matter what other's say/how they judge you, because in the end everything is the Lord's hands!! I have never once met a person that has never sinned! F.Y.I. Cursing is NOT a sin, just a misusage of the english language!!! Fruitfullness of sin is your specific area of concern, so you are probably contemplating sex before marriage, or some type if sexual type sin, I'm just guessing?!?! I would NEVER marry a man without having sex with him first!! I love to be pleasured, and sometimes 2 bodies just for some reason or another can't groove together, and then I would end up looking elsewhere for pleasure, which is a worse sin, adultry!! I also wouldn't marry my first ever sexual partner! Too many times the marriage fails because they are curious what others are like in bed?

I just live my life day by day! And everynight I tell God that I am only human, but at least I'm not raping/stealing/killing/etc.!! God is always with you, even when life is rough and you feel all alone!! We are his children, and just like your parents, his love is unconditional!!

If you enjoy the spirituality and community of your religion, then I feel it wasn't a waste at all. However, if you only belong to your religion out of a sense of duty, then that makes for a very frustrating life.

Guilt is a useless emotion. If you do something wrong in the christian religion, and you feel guilty, you can "make it go away" in confession, right? I disagree with this. If you make a mistake, or hurt someone...I say DON'T feel guilty. Just make it right. Apologize if you hurt someone else, and make amends. Learn from it. Then move on, knowing that you're now closer to the type of person you want to be.

Ok, I'll bite (christian believer here). Truly, if there were no God, I think we would be in a very sad state of affairs. Doubtful you would be able to go out in public without some repercussions of "sin".
An example...STD's. God intended man to only have sex with his married woman. If that would have happened, there would be no such thing as an STD. An STD is a direct result of sin.
Good, bad, right, wrong, nothing productive ever comes out of negative behavior.
God Bless You!

No, I don't think so...Religion is just one of those stepping stones to a higher realization. We've all gone through our religious phases in one lifetime or another. These religious souls will eventually outgrow this crutch, if not in this lifetime, then the next. Pretty soon they'll realize that they can ride the bicycle without the training wheels.

Having a since of Religion is healthy for the mind, body, and soul. And if that "what if" proves to be true of their actually being a God. That fruitfulness of sin will send you straight to Hell. My thing is, why take the chance! :-)

this is interesting...God is such a huge cosmic entity who has been the cause of clash between believers and non believers.
i believe, that He is so Omipotent and powerful that our belief is too petty to reduce his worth. when on the other hand, i also believe that however deep our faith may be, its not goin to create a God if there isn't any. The bottomline - beliefs dont and cant disturb the laws of spirituality.

I should sue the catholic church for the time in my life that I wasted. Education and logical reasoning was my savior. Those pricks tried to brainwash me for age 6. Although I got my vengence many many times back. You have an awesome point.

It is a matter of perception, they would not do it if they thought they wasted their lives in doing so. But what they think might not be what others think it depends on the persons way of living.
