I spoke to an Eastern Orthodox woman the other day and asked the diferences(I'm catholic) and she said...1.They don't have a pope
2.they don't believe the Immaculate Conception was the conception of Mary
3.they have the Apostles Creed as opposed to the Nicene-the difference being, Catholic-"the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son" E.D.- the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father
4.their priests can be married
and there is one more that I can't remember, but it has to do with works of salvation

Although the Pope in Rome would love to have control over the Eastern church, in practice he doesn't. I think they fell out over Easter (they date it differently), but I could be wrong and hope someone answers this question in more detail than I can.
The orthodox and Roman churches are more friendly now than they were, and we all continue to hope that one day we will be reconciled.
