It will have to be outside becuase I think it tis fine to have it inside when it is toilet trained but my family ... well they don't like that idea. The dog that we get will have to be... loyal affectionate easy to train be kinda smallish liked being cuddled and patted not have an annoying bark not aggressive. Can you think of any dog that has all of those traits? And please don't give me the answer like this "I think it is bad to have a dog outside it is part of the family you shouldn't keep it outside and ignore it..." because it is going to get loads of attention from me loads of walks and it will be loved. And we even asked a pet shop worker and they said any dog apart from a chihuahua will be fine outside if they have a warm Kennel to sleep in at night (wich the dog that we get will have) So after that any ideas annyone?

Log on to the AKC website. They have quizzes to help you determine which breed is right for you.

Don't put the dog outside until its trained. Spend just a bit more and get a crate (not a carrier). A dog won't soil its sleeping place. Put the pup in the crate not only when you're gone but once in a while when you're home. Take the pup outside 10-15 minutes after eating or drinking. Every 30 minutes at other times. This kind of consistency teaches the pup where he can/cannot 'go'. Good luck.

If you are getting a dog that has to stay outside why bother? Dogs are pack animals and need and want the company of people or other dogs. Unless you are going to be outside with the dog for at least 12 hours a day you won't be able to satisfy his basic need for companionship, hence barking, chewing, and aggressive behaviour will most certainly be evident. I'm glad you asked a person at the pet shop, however most employee's at pet shops have absolutely no training in animal health or behaviour. They are just there to sell you supplies and in some cases pets. IMHO the only dogs that should be kept outside are the huskies, Siberian or Alaskan, definitely not a small or medium sized dog they don't have the coats or the body weight needed to help fend off the cold or the heat. You might do better with fish.

How about contacting a rescue group in your area and finding a small mixed breed that needs a good home? Spending the majority of the time outside but with lots of human interaction can be an acceptable lifestyle for a dog - but remember, dogs are 'pack animals' and enjoy companionship. A dog that is lonely or bored can become destructive. Whatever breed or mix you choose be sure to provide shelter from the elements (like a nice dog house), plenty of shade and a constant source of fresh water - plus a daily load of TLC!

get a cat! lol...but seriously. Go ask at your local vets, better to ask a vet than a pet shop because a pet shop will just try to sell you a dog and spin you any yarn. I completely understand that you want to keep your pet outside. As long as you still take your small dog for walks, give them lots of affection and plenty of toys they will be happy. My friend use to have a courtyard and had a little fox terrior cross. He was adorable and though he did come inside he just needed a small walk each day and a tiny space to run around and was happy as anything. There will be good dogs for you but you need to ask a professional. Good luck!

Pugs are along the same line as Chihuahua because they get very cold very easily. Excatly how small are you thinking? Something along the lines of a poodle? Or some type of Terrier? When I was growing up we had a Basenji. They are a barkless dog. They make a "yodeling" sound instead of barking. He was a great dog. Liked to run in the yard and play.

Give us an idea of where you live. Does it snow there - does the dog need a heavy coat? Does it rain alot or is it dry and hot? Do you live in the city or the country? Are there other dogs around in the area? These things can affect the type of dog you should get.

a pleased canines is a drained canines. A bored canines is gloomy and unfavourable and hyper and depressed. canines do no longer sit down there and amuse themselves (except by unfavourable or nuisance behaviors) in case you're away. maximum canines sleep the time away. REQUIRED for any breed of canines: minimum 2 brisk 30 minute walks or 3 brisk 20 minute walks at a competent p.c.. daily on leash. in case you may't attempt this, do no longer undertake a canines of any variety. in case you may, I notably propose you seem into adopting a canines from animal administration or humane society, the position there are countless wonderful mixed breeds and purebreeds accessible. I followed my personal 5 12 months GSD as an grownup from Miami Dade Animal Care and administration, on the day she replaced into slated to die. canines there have fewer than 5 days in the adventure that they are fortunate, so maximum die. also, seem into adopting an older canines, an grownup, perchance human being who needs a lot less workout. you in reality isn't dissatisfied. i'd somewhat have fewer captivating, wonderful and profoundly graced years with an grownup canines than i'd starting up with a tiny puppy. also, the affection and delight is immeasurable. yet all canines do desire to be walked daily, inspite of age and length and breed, and that i'm no longer speaking merely around the block to potty. as well, strolling with your canines, mutually learning new issues, sharing in this bonding daily interest is a few thing you'll locate you want. So make time on your canines daily. no human being should be stuck on my own in a house all day with out workout or sparkling air or companionship. make effective you're waiting for yet another canines, that you grants the canines what he or she quite needs. in case you may be lengthy gone better than 6 hours at a time, employ a puppy sitter who can come and take your canines out in the afternoon. finally, walk your canines on-leash, never enable your canines to roam or run loose.

You want a Basenji, it's a smaller medium size dog and actually has no bark at all. They're fun loving, loyal and really great to train.

it sounds like a beagle, or beagle mix is the dog for you. and as long as you have a dog house and feed and water it everyday your dog should live a long happy life. we had a dog in our back yard that lived 20 years. and died of old age. . DOGS GROW WINTER COATS THAT KEEP THEM WARM IN THE WINTER. just make sure it has a dog house to keep it dry and sheltered.
