It depends on your daily activity.
Since I haven't been exercising lately, instead of sleeping 8 hours and feeling refreshed, I've been sleeping 14. Not normal of course.

Just do something all day and set yourself up for what time you go to sleep. Normally go to sleep at 10 and wake up at 6 A.M.
Most people do that, if they have jobs.

Might wanna go get some exercise and go to the doctor.

no this is not normal, an average person should or suppose to sleep some what around 7-8 hours a day only, if u sleep 12 out of 24 hours, ur 50% of the day is gone, lets say u work 8 out of the rest, remaining u have 4 hours for commuting to work, eating, and other daily activities. you intake food but dont have enough time to burn it off, it will make u gain weight or in other words,(u will get FAT).

HELL YEAH! I sleep that much too! I know it's not good for ya but a lot of people seem to. I always sleep at LEAST 12 hours + the day after the last day of my work week cause I don't sleep much during the week. If you don't do anything during the week like school/work and don't get much exercise and sleep that much then it's not healthy. You might have sleep apnea or one other sickness that I can't think of right now that causes you to sleep in such long periods. Go see a doctor if you sleep like that every day!

Do not mind but please read this old saying
Old folks sleep for 4 Hours
A Man Sleeps for 6 Hours
Women Sleeps for 7 Hours.
Children sleeps for 8 Hours
Kids sleeps for 10 Hours
and a Fool sleeps for 12 Hours.
So, Don't be a fool , get up and work hard, for your question the answer is it is not normal to sleep for 12 hours.

Average sleep is supposed to 8 hours, if you're sleeping that much, could it be because you may be suffering from depression.
Sleeping alot is one of the signs of depression, maybe you should consider consulting a doctor.

Sometimes...we all sleep 12 hours. But you say on average. You might want to see a doctor. You may have sleep apnea, or a chemical/hormone imbalance.
