I know what you mean because I feel the same way. But just because we agree doesn't mean other people do...not everyone has the same morals or standards. That's why we have such a great diversity in our culture.
For some people it's nothing more than a physical thing, just getting one's needs met or having some careless fun. For some yes, maybe they do have low self esteem, or maybe they are young and don't know any better, or haven't realized there should or could be more than meaningless sex.
For me, it's not careless or just a physical act. I can't have orgasms with someone I don't love. Maybe it's mental and maybe it's physical, but whatever it is, there you have it. I guess some are more easily able to separate love and sex in their mind. For me they are a pair.
I don't think it has to do with someone just being "easy" or having "low morals". (Although yes, for some it may be that, but not necessarily the majority of people who engage in casual sex). Just because I don't agree with someone else's life choices doesn't mean they are not moral people. It just means their morals are different than MINE. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, and I don't judge people for making different choices. Like I said, that's what diversity is all about.
Sorry to be so personal, but I wanted to give you the most honest answer I could from my perspective.

Well the way i see it has nothing to do with morals. Some use it as a way to release and let go. Others find that one person that they want to sleep with and just do it cause they dont think that any body will have them any other way. Or they are talked into it or they make a bet. And if that is the case then they might feel really bad about it later and wash them selves, or they might like it and keep having sex with that person, just for that and some times it turns into something else. It all depends on them, what they want/need, what is going on. You cant judge them like they are all the same. Different people, different reasons.

There are many people like you - sex is the top of their love. On the other hand, there are people that do not care. Maybe they do not believe in love or were disappointed by love. They might want to forget about unlucky love. If you think about it, there are many reasons, because everyone of us is unique. Some just collect - i mean, they are proud when they can come to friends and put on airs. It is their lifestyle. It can also happen that you fall in love with someone, have sex with him for the first time but then you find out that he does not love you... The atmosphere around can have a big influence. I hope i helped you a bit to understand.

You really have answered your own question. You said that you can't disconnect sex from loving and caring. Its not like that for everybody, Many people have no problem separating the two. Neither way is right or wrong, good or evil, moral or immoral. Its just the way people are different. Be true to yourself and choose someone with the same values.

Don't be too judgemental - it's not been a game that I've played, but I understand that some people just want a little intimacy, and don't want or need all that goes along with a slowly initiated, long time coming, monogamous relationship or marriage. Sometimes it's the situation that they meet in, sometimes it can lead to a LTR or marriage. They often tend to be players, so just let them play! You never know, you might meet someone, and feel such an urgency to connect with them, that you change your perspective on this.
Peace out!

I agree with you. But for me it's got nothing to do with my morals really. I just don't enjoy sex with someone I dont know. It's an emotional experience for me and I just wouldn't enjoy it with a virtual stranger. I have to have feelings for the other person and the sort of feelings that dont come within 2 hours of chatting to them in a nightclub. ( I even tried it once to see if I was missing some point or another but just felf awful the next morning.) Men are different animals to women. They do enjoy sex for sex sake and that's just in their make up. Sorry to generalise guys but it does seem to be the way of the world.

because they can, some people dont like the whole emotional tie and just want no strings sex, a quick fix! which in my opinion is fine, but sex with some you are emotional involved with is so much better as it has a real feelin of meaning!
some people have one night stands, coz for that moment they are wanted, but they do not want emotional involvement in fear of getting hurt or rejected.
some people are just nymphs and need and want sex 24/7 so they do not care who it is with as long as they get their fix!
but men are referred to as studs for how many women they can bed and a woman is a s**t! which really annoys me, woman have as much sexual desire as a man, but are made to feel this is wrong.

looking at the answers, it seems that we are all of the same opinion, that its not so easy for MOST people. Personally I think that it should happen out of respect for each other. If you think you can respect some one on the first night then you are shallow. Respect takes time, STD take a one night stand

It's SO not a moral issue, and you're asking the question because, deep, deep down, you know that you want to be able to relax more and enjoy sex for sex instead of listening to all of that pseudo-moralist, crypto-religious rubbish that *people* have created just to control you.
Break free. Think for yourself. Stop wondering.
