Let's say that there is a neighbor that purposely put up wind chimes to annoy the hell out of someone. And let's also say that this neighbor was asked politely if she could take them down or put them somewhere else on her property instead of right next to "Mr. A's" window. If, to piss her off, "Mr.A" were to play music out of that window at any given time during the day or night, so that it was audible in her window, which is right across the way, would this be a bad thing, or would she be deserving of it?

i once got so mad at a neighbor who wouldn't shut up her dog that i pulled my huge truck on her lawn at 3 am with the bright on right up to her bedroom window and laid on the horn. forget the music. buy a audio tape used for hunting coyotes. it is a recording of an injured rabbit or such animal and will drive anyone absolutely insane.

I would go to her door, ask her nicely if there was a problem that you might have caused and if there would be a solution. Then as soon as you have kissed and made up, kindly ask her to remove the wind chimes. Also explain to her why they annoy you. If this doesn't work, don't play the music, you might get fined by the law for a noise ordinance. Then, put a strobe light from your house to her room. There's no law against that! Ha! Again, what goes around comes around.

She can call the police about your loud music. Perhaps instead you should ask her one more time o remove the chimes. Then you can call your police (not 911, its not an emergency) and explain about the wind chimes and how they are so close to your window that you hear them all night.

Have you ever heard very large harmonic wind chimes? They are just beautiful! Go to eBay and get some and put them close to her window(but on your property). I think you will like them, and they will cover the sound of hers. Getting even isn't cool if it's mean spirited. I don't think you are mean.

What did you do to her that she "purposely" put wind chimes next to your window? I'd apologize for that then ask her nicely to move them. Escalating the conflict, by blaring music at her window, won't solve the problem.

Or maybe buy a long tree limb cutter and in the middle of the night.....snip! When the neighbor asks what happened, just say...."gee, I didn't hear anything....."

But really,
Try and talk reasonably to her. If that doesn't work, call your city. Most cities have annoyance or nuisance statutes and neighborhood mediators to help with problems like this. This is drastic, however; you can file a lawsuit for disturbing your peace, intrusion, annoyance, harassment, etc.

why would a neighbor purposely put up chimes to annoy you. someone must have started this spat. who ever that may have been if you go back at them it will just get worse and worse and every one will be uncomfortable. including any one else who may live close to you and then you will be fighting with more than one neighbor

Just remind her that it's very important TO YOU, that she take the wind chimes down.

Otherwise, before you know it, she'll have to put 12 wind chimes up to drown out your never-ending Black Sabbath concert.

Why not get a set of wind chimes of your own. I like the sound of them.

Maybe, Mr. A or someone in acquaintance should remove and replace said windchimes elsewhere like, say, in the trash or maybe on the lawn of someone the next block down. And, they should be replaced with a garden gnome.

Late at night.
