Neglect anything in the previous answers. The cameraman is position in a location where he can see the golfer's swing. That may be on a tower or even a truck bed 1/2 way down a fairway on the longer holes. A par three usually only has a tower at the green. It each case the camera being used has a "long" lens which enables the camera to see a head to toe image of the golfer as he strikes the ball. The trick for the cameraman is having the ball in his frame before it leaves the tree line and before it hits the sky. With experience, the cameraman anticipates the tee shot and slightly tilts the camera as the ball leaves the tee. Each cameraman has a video operator sitting in a production truck who adjusts the video level for the camera as the ball leaves the contrasting background, tree line to sky. Look closely and you will notice the adjustment being made. That adjustment enable the cameraman to track the ball. The key is to pick up the ball before it leaves a darker background. Notice that they do not zoom until the ball has reached the peak of flight, then a slow zoom to establish the landing zone and relation to the hole or fairway. Note that when you watch a shot from the blimp or extremely high platforms, the ball is usually easy to see, one reason for that is the cameraman has a dark background the entire flight of the ball. Regardless, following the ball in flight is not the easiest. Cameras have adjustable contrasts in viewfinders that can be set to the operators preference. It still is a two man operation, the operator and the guy in the truck who shades the camera.
There are no tracking devices hidden in golf balls.

it is not like the fairways and cup locations on the greens are moved around every second with some kind of hiodden remote control device in the clubhouse.. and there aren't 10 of them up there at once ..
the people hitting them are professionals and that gives a good hint to the camaramen for where to focus their attention..
proof being on the rare horrible shot.. the camera goes wild from the surprise of it all .. Where'd it go? Where'd it go!

There is a camera man, but there also is a sensor that detects the ball and follows it.

there's tricks and ways to make it easier. They can change the way colors are seen in their monitor so that the ball will be easier to distinguigh from the sky/skyline.

When the tw*t dressed like a pimp whacks it with that bent stick, it's a good guess that it won't stay on the ground.
