Of the two, I would recommend the Springfield. I don't like the way Glocks shoot. But I'm not really a big fan of the double trigger system in general. It feels like dragging a stick through mud with every shot, which throws off my aim just a bit.

A gun is like a shoe, if you're not comfortable with it, worth nothing. The best you can do, is to try them both and then decide. And I give you an advice which, if you follow it, you will shoot like a champion. It's simple as every real thing: When you hold the handgun, keep your forefinger along with the handgun's barrel and squeeze the trigger, easy, with your middle finger. This will give you an accuracy in each shooting position.
P.S. I'm against guns, but there are jobs and places where you need them.

I'm nowhere near a gun expert but I have heard great things about the Springfield. If you're not positive on what you should buy, check out local dealers and find what feels best in your hand. After that, try to set up something at a shooting range and see what gun you prefer on the range. After you do that, make your purchase.

best advice is to go to a gun shop and hold both guns and see which one fits your hands the best. I have shot both glocks and xd's. the are both reliable and do not jam. i must admit though i carried the glock 23 as a police officer for several yrs.

I have 2 springfield xds and one of them is the .40 I like it so i bought the new .45 acp they just came out with. .40 arent that expensive to shoot. A couple dollars more than a 9mm. And for the people who are talking smack about guns grow up. People kill people plain and simple, you have a better chance of killing someone with your car than a gun.

Glock for style (used a lot in several movies, like James Bond, plus it looks neat) or xp for reliability and aim.
