If god existed he would be all powerful, meaning he could do anything. If he could do anything, he could create a boulder so heavy, that even he couldn't lift it. If he couldn't lift it, than he would not be all powerful, therefore he does not exist. I am posting this simply to see what kinds of responses I will receive. I know not everyone will agree. I am curious to see what different people's perspectives are on this topic.

note- the question is not why, but IF he could do it. Again, this is not intended to offend anyone, it is simply out of curiosity.

And babies prove evolution is a fact since they evolve out of plants, water, animals and rocks.

Given all the evidence proving God does not exist (and if he does, he's useless), it's a wonder any intelligent person makes the claim that he does exist.

The opium of the masses, Marx said, and is apparently true.

If God existed God would be all powerful
That means God has lot of thinking power
not like stupid mortals who depend on a glimpse of science
Because of this thinking power God don't do anything without a good reason. And for this reason God will not even thinking of creating a boulder so heavy which couldn't lift. End of Case

Have a God in your life. You will feel the difference.

God can do anything, otherwise He would not be all powerful. There is no mere rock He cannot lift. He needs no arms, He commands the eath as His creation. His strength knows no bounds, Him being God. He needs only command a rock to move and it will.

That is the concept of a single God, creator of humanity, capable of all things and incapable of none. Many seem to view the question as proof that he does not exist, but it contradicts itself--"If he could do anything, he could create a boulder so heavy, that even he couldn't lift it" If He could do anything, then He can lift the damn rock. The question is flawed. The claims that it means anything merely show that the people who claim this aren't using the logic many of them claim to use to disprove God.

I am glad you are curious--curiosity leads to knowledge. Keep seeking answers to your questions.

If God created a rock that was too heavy for Him to lift, He would simply use the wind to blow it away. Or perhaps He would use a tsunami as He did December 2004.

If you are questioning whether God exists or not, I'd say some things must be seen to be believed. On the hand some things must be believed to be seen.

Most everything depends on a person's perspective. If you can't see God, it may mean that you simply aren't looking for Him.

We can know God is real when we experience His reality. God wants us to know that He is real. One way you can find out for sure is through an experimental approach. Pray a prayer like this:

"God, if you are real, show me. If you really exist, I want to know before it is too late."

No one else needs to know if you prayed such a prayer. If there is no God, then He can't respond to any prayer. If He exists, He will show you in a way that is convincing to you.

But really, people who suppress the truth about God are without excuse. The Bible says that God has placed eternity in the hearts of the sons of men (see Ecclesiastes 3:11). You have an intuitive knowledge in your heart that there is "something out there" and that when you die you will still exist somehow - and not just as a memory or idea. Right now you may believe in your mind and with part of your heart that you have well-grounded scientific or other reasons to deny the reality of your eternal existence, but God has made sure that something in you knows that this is not the truth.

In other words, God's existence and nature is revealed through what you can see around you in the physical universe AND in your own internal world. Your conscience, mind, memory, will - indeed your whole soul - is a strong evidence that there is a Personal God - one who feels, thinks, chooses and judges.

Can we really believe that all personality and personhood is nothing but a meaningless product of time, chance, matter and energy? And if so, what would be the practical consequences of such a philosophy lived out?

It is actually so improbable that you have no excuse if you choose to believe such rubbish.

The human race is by far the most selfish race. To think that we have our own god. The reality is god didn't make anything. Humans are just an offspring of a piece of mold stuck to a fossilized dinosaur terd that thawed out as the planet warmed up. Evolution maybe. We are the smartest animals. I think that evolution is starting to work it's way back around the other way. I notice the more people I come in contact with the dumber they are. Almost like a chimp. Now am I selfish to think that just becasue I can't understand a chimp then the chimp is dumb. In reality I am the one that is dumb because I can't understand the chimp.

To God creation is but a thought and therefore in thought all is possible. In your question you are relating God to the physical boundaries of this world which don't apply because where God dwells there is no material items just God and his children.

If what your question was possible and God was not Omnipotent (unlimited power over all things) he can still exist just as you and I do. By the way don't feel bad as It is always good to question and seek the truth, goodluck!

God cannot fail. God does not lie.

He wouldn't create a boulder so heavy that He couldn't lift it. It's not a matter of power, but integrity.

Your argument fails when you say if He couldn't lift it then He is not all powerful. He accomplished what He set out to do, didn't He? If He wanted to create a boulder He could not lift, then He would not want to lift it, so He would not be a failure.

God does nothing without reason.

There would be no reason for him to create a boulder so heavy that even he couldn't lift.

Perhaps you should stop repeating impossible questions and figure out how to make the world a better place.

I agree with you. A god who is all-powerful would be able to lift and/or do anything. If he makes a boulder he cannot lift then he is not all-powerful.
