i agree, if they don't believe there actually is a god then they should choose their words better.

Jesus Christ!!! What are those words you are trying to type.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Seriously though, the idea of taking the Lord's name in vain had nothing to do with saying God Damn or anything like that.
Go read in Roman's where paul says "because of you the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles." And also Christ says let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father who is in heaven."
Whether people are worried about the so called taking of the Lord's name in vain or whatever, whether they are Christians or not or whatever they think they are doing, the first error is in misunderstanding the principle.
Taking God's name in vain is making a big show of being a Christian, or a God person or whatever, and living a lifestyle or engaging in behaviors that would lead other people to associate God with you, that is with you and your ungodly person.
That's a ten pointer for sure.

Few people take the time to think up original swear words. The Christian ones have been a part of the English language for a long time and most people use them reflexively.

Because it's a free country. Why do people call mean women witches? I am a Pagan and I say if you don't know what a real witch is then you shouldn't say that. But I can't stop people from saying what they want, and neither can you.

I agree that God is a acceptance, no longer a acceptance, and for this reason putting forward "goddamn it" isn't taking the Lord's call in ineffective. in my opinion, i do not say it for a pair causes. understand for the call of God and in the Bible (in such distinctive words) says to observe what comes from the mouth. i do not undergo in thoughts the precise verse although.

Anyone who says, "God said (whatever)" is using the Lord's name in vain.
That includes the pope and anyone else who makes that statement.
You clearly are unfamiliar with the word "vain" and "vanity."
Elevating one's self to the same level as God is the ultimate vanity.

Well I guess its just the social word for expressing pain and suffering..like when something bad happens...it's like Jesus Christ...maybe they are refering to the fact that it is believed that he suffered much like they are at that moment...but actually Jesus wasnt "Jesus' real name...it was actually Yesuah Which Means Joshua..it got changed during the translation from Aramaic to Greek to English...

"Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men;....And whoever shall speak a word against the son of Man, it shall be forgiven him...."
"...the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart....and I say to you, that every careless word that men shall speak, they shall render account for in the day judgment. For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned."
God gives people total choice, and Believers must grant the same. These texts and others were addressed to hypocrites as well as to unbelievers. The last sentence quoted is addressed to everyone. Jesus is ready to forgive every sin. He does not condemn us. Our own words and actions do, according to His Word. Peace, Buttercup

"Taking the Lord name in vain" refers to use of the name. It is also for contacts.
