I checked Google and there are several places on the web to buy the orange colored hard hats. Unless you are trying to look like "Devo" from the 80's, the orange color is typically reserved for government workers...which is why you cannot find them in your local store. It gives the emergency crews a "heads up" because it is an easy color to identify.

Differant colors are commonly used for differant professions as in electricions , plumbers , pipefitters , cement,etc. soo why orange?
